Herb Pharm tinctures are the only ones I use because the quality is consistently excellent. The goldenseal tastes terrible—but that’s just how goldenseal is—and in my experience it works best in tincture form. I just received this item and so far I'm taking it it's been one day. Last night when I went to sleep I didn't notice that my nose was not stopped up as much as it usually would. My fiance also told me that I didn't snore like I usually would. The taste is not bad as other golden seals I have purchased in the past the smell is not too bad also. I will be doing a follow-up review in two to three weeks

I can't believe the power in this little jar. Decided to try after a blog entry I read elsewhere, and boy was she right. Basically there are different kinds of zits and this goldenseal product kicks butt on the kind that are more like tiny mountains rather than a blemish (like blackheads or the tiny little protein zits). Goldenseal's power is in what it does to monster zits. You know, the biggest whitehead you ever had that feels like it takes up half your face... you know the one I'm talking about. You see it coming and brace yourself because the healing is like a month long and might possibly leave a scar. Guess what? No more. Not with this product. I did *not* like just putting a drop on my face and going to bed. No, it stained my pillow and sheets. I had to find another way. What I do is I use the 'spot' bandages, drop 1 small goldenseal drop on it, gently place the bandage over the zit and sleep that way. In the morning prepare to be amazed. Normally the zit has dried up; however, sometimes it stays about the same, and then the next night it dries up. Healing time is cut into 1/5 of what my old normal was. I am going on 50 years old and have seen many dermatologists. They always want to write a rx; the older I get the more they pressure me. Now that I found goldenseal I have no more acne worries. Also, this bottle should last me a very long time because it takes such a small amount. If you've never used goldenseal be prepared because it's bright orange-y/brown and will leave a stain on your clothes or sheets. *Update 22jan15/ I bought a Clarisonic Aria (from their website for warranty purposes) and have no need for Goldenseal anymore. I want to say that in the end the Goldenseal worked about 50% of the time so I bumped the rating from 5 to 4. Right off the bat, as you can tell from my review, it really kicked butt. I was amazed. I began to apply it all acne but that was a mistake. Whether it works or not all depends on the type of acne. I think for as cheap as it is, it is definitely worth a try for anyone who struggles with 'chronic' acne. When you buy this, also buy the little spot bandages and put them over the Goldenseal on the acne spot to cover up the goldenseal --it doesn't hurt anything and otherwise this product gets all over clothes/sheets and might stain them.

Update: day 4 .. I finally slept 8 hours straight AND waking up with no coughing ( after having a battle with coughing for 3 weeks straight that no over the counter cough syrup could cure...After 2 days of taking golden seal pills, I upgraded to this liquid extract for 2 days . i BEEN TAKING THE DROPPER STRAIGHT to the back of my throat followed my sugarfree glass of lemon water or tea..I still use cough drops through the day... PREVIOUSLY : 5 STARS for it slowing down my cough ...I put a half spoonful of honey in a tablespoon and I put a dropper full of goldenseal inside of the honey that was sitting in the spoon...I took the spoon to the far back of my throat and allowed it to pour in. and slide down my throat..I used honey because I was pre-warned of the awful bitter taste..I like this much better..but tonight I am going to take the full dropper to the back of my throat ) and let it flow down without honey) because I want the golden seal to touch my throat directly . This liquid can stain the teeth so its important to aim the dropper to the back of the throat..Golden seal slowed down my coughing from the first day of using it. I am at day 3....The first 2 days I was using pills. Today ( day 3). I decided to try the liquid..I bought both because the pills shipped faster even though I preferred the liquid. They both work but I prefer the liquid because the liquid touches the inside of my throat.

I had two experiences with goldenseal at different dosages with different results. I have horrible cystic acne so that’s what I was using it for. A few people mentioned it’s good to start slow with goldenseal if your sensitive so the first time I started with 1/4 dose 3x per day and increase by a few more drops everyday for a week until I was at the recommended dosage on the bottle. However, I experienced extreme bloating and lil worsening in my acne. I stopped after a week. My second try at goldenseal was about 2 months later and this time I decided to start off strong with the dosage of 2 dropperfuls 2x per day per the recommendation from the liver Rescue book by Anthony William. This time I surprisingly didn’t experience any bloating & it helped my skin SO MUCH while on it. I took for 8 days then ran out. My acne does seem to creep back once I stopped. But while on the goldenseal It was the week before my period when my skin is usually horrible... but it was really good thanks to the goldenseal. I plan to reorder and continue with doing 2 dropperfuls 2x a day 1 week on, 1 week off. It says 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off in the liver Rescue book but on the bottle it says 7-10 days so i’m going to do 1 week on just to be safe. It’s nice to finally have a supplement that makes a difference & is affordable. I eat very clean high raw plant based diet for the last 4-5 years and still struggle with acne. I also have tried so many expensive supplements with no avail.
