Looks Great, Performs Great & Made of Quality Materials
I knew I wanted a hard-shell, folding tonneau cover for my 2014 Ford F-150 and am glad I chose this one by BAK.There are multiple YouTube videos showing you how to install this cover and they show you every step you will need to follow. I installed my cover without help and it took me about an hour and a half since I read and re-read the instructions as I went along. With that said, if you watch the install video a couple of times, you could probably install this without looking at the instructions. It really is a straight forward process. My cover has a black semi-gloss finish and looks wonderful on my truck. That was not my primary goal but is definitely an added plus to this purchase. The cover fits perfectly and adds a layer of security to the truck as prying eyes cannot see if there is anything worth stealing in the bed. No, this cover will not turn your truck bed into Fort Knox but it will hide your possessions from potential thieves. Because of this, I can run errands and leave stuff in the truck bed without having to worry if somebody will take things out while I am in the next store.Another plus is this cover has kept quite a bit of rain out of my truck bed. My driveway is sloped so, during heavy rains, the bed might fill partly up with several gallons water which all ran out when I drove away. Now, after several storms, I have opened it up and seen less than 1 gallon sitting on top of the bed liner. It is not watertight but it is significantly better than nothing. On three sides of the cover is a rubber strip that lays flat and keeps water out of the bed. If they added one more of these strips to the fourth side (on top of the tailgate) I believe that could keep the rest of the water out.Overall, I am very pleased with the performance, quality of materials and look of this tonneau cover. I wish I had bought it sooner.

BakFlip F1
I purchased this cover one year ago this month, so this is a long term review of sorts. At first, the cover was great, fairly easy to install and worked as advertised. Over the course of the past year I've experienced several issues with the cover. First: the two exterior tie down hooks have rusted. Second: The exterior backflip decal has started peeling off. Third: The rubber tailgate seal has partially separated from the cover. Fourth: The once semi-gloss black paint has completely gone flat and is showing signs of wearing away completely in some spots. Fifth, and most recently: The pull cable by the tailgate disconnected, leading to disassembly of the entire metal/plastic latch cover system to figure out what happened. Turns out the cables are wrapped around the latches on each side and squeezed with a metal clamp. The cable pulled right out of the clamp.I have cleaned and re-painted the rusted hooks. What was left of the decal has been removed. The tailgate seal was re-attached with automotive adhesive. The pull-cable was repaired (took 35-minutes). haven't decided what to do about the faded paint yet.BAK has a technical support/warranty e-mail which I have contacted with the above issues, however they have never gotten back with me (it's been months). Overall a good design and idea, but appears the long-term quality isn't there.

Easy to install - Looks Great!
This tonneau cover is the strongest offering from BAK Industries, which was an important consideration as I plan to use it as a platform for shooting video from time to time. It does get quite hot to the touch under the sun, as the material is not especially reflective, and of course, it is black. Unless you have a crowbar, if you've locked the tailgate, there's no good way to break into the thing - another important consideration if you want to leave valuable items in the bed when you go have lunch somewhere.Installation was really very easy, and after watching a how-to YouTube video, I had it on the truck and totally complete in about 30 minutes, with the help of my wife, who held some of the bolts in place while I installed them under the cover. It fit absolutely perfectly, and I didn't need to make any cuts to my bed liner (Rhino Liner) to make it work. I do think the claims about saving 2 MPG due to having it installed is probably a little generous. I haven't noticed a significant change in my mileage. Of course, it probably weighs near 60 lbs, so that doesn't help. But, that's not why I bought it anyway. So far, it has proven to be mostly water-tight, with just a couple of very minor drip leaks in a moderate rain storm a few days after I installed it. I would feel pretty confident in leaving just about anything in the bed with the cover closed. All in all, I'm very pleased with the purchase, and would recommend it to anyone looking for a secure and strong option. Just remember to wear gloves if you're working on a hot day - this thing might burn your fingerprints off!
