Q: Are the lenses really glass or are they plastic?

Most glasses use a polycarbonate lens, but not certain if these are. The polycarbonates are a family of plastic but are not as brittle as glass (won't crack/chip as easily) and are much lighter than glass. They also have excellent optical qualities.

Q: could it be used with prescription glasses?

Yes, I wear prescription glasses and I chose this because its open and not closed up like the optivisors are.
