Something That Makes You Say "WOW!" - UPDATED Sept 20th, 2025 (3 YEARS LATER!)
UPDATE - It has now been almost 3 full years since I purchased this weather station and I must say, it's still going strong. I have not had any issues with it what-so-ever! The only thing I have had to do was change the batteries in the outdoor sensor (simple!). So glad I made the decision to buy this! _______________________________________________________________________________ Original Review: I thought 'how good can this be at this price point?'...this is an amazing value! I previously owned a Lacrosse weather station similar to this that cost twice as much 7 years ago. Although it had a slightly larger display, it did not have all the features this unit has. Also, the Lacrosse unit was a bear to set up, the instructions were minimal and not very clear. NOT SO, with this weather station! One thing I don't see mentioned in the reviews here is the MARVELOUS job they did in putting together a well written and illustrated User Guide. Seriously, I expected to see all sorts of misspellings and bad grammar, instead what I found was plain, clear, and concise English. Great Job! This is super simple to set-up, just take your time and refer to the step by step set-up in the guide book. It took me about 15 minutes to get everything set the way I wanted it (I'm very picky). The display on this is very clear and colorful. The most important information can easily be read from across a fairly large room - if you have decent eyesight. The color scheme is well thought out. Indoor and outdoor temperatures are displayed in different colors so you can distinguish which is which...handy if the temp outside is close to the temperature inside. Accuracy - keep in mind that just because your temperature display may not exactly match your local official temperature, it does not mean the accuracy of the unit is bad. It is not uncommon to have 2 - 3 degree temperature variances. Many factors can affect the temperature display, such as where you place your outdoor sensor (follow the guides suggestions!), and localized pockets of cooler or warmer air close to you versus your local official station. Particularly if you live in a low lying area vs a slightly higher elevation. Directly above the display in the center you will find what looks like icons representing light/Zz. Don't be an idiot like me and look for a button to adjust your brightness level or put your display into sleep mode. These icons are touch sensitive. Once the unit is plugged in you simply touch the icons to adjust your screen brightness. Also worth noting is that if you have the Atomic Clock synchronizer ACTIVE, the screen will blank out every hour on the hour for up to seven minutes until your sensor makes a connection. This will only happen during the wee hours of the morning, not during the day. You also have the option to turn this feature off and manually set the time, date, etc yourself. All-in-all, this is one heck of a bargain. It is not some cheap piece of junk. I fully expect this will serve me long beyond the one year warranty provided. I highly recommend this!

Accuracy, accuracy, accuracy. What else really matters?
The Hodik Weather Station is an impressive device. I'm a physicist (a physics prof) and I care about measurement accuracy above all else. Aesthetics are nice, but first a device has to provide accurate values for the quantities it reports. I've been studying the Hodik Weather Station for several days and I'm getting good results. Technically, it provides accurate values for temperature, humidity, and barometric pressure. Measuring temperature is relatively easy these days; thermistors are amazing devices that are easily instrumented and almost any engineer can build the electronics to get good temperature values from thermistors. In other words, I'm not worried about temperature values. The physical quantity that most of these inexpensive devices struggle with is humidity -- it's a difficult measurement, requiring a good sensor and some sophistication in the electronics and computer analysis. I've bought a bunch of too-inexpensive devices from Amazon that claim to measure humidity. Most of them provide only minimal accuracy -- about all they can report is dry, medium, or humid. Anything else they claim is just meaningless numbers. To my delight, there are a small fraction of inexpensive devices that actually report meaningful humidity measurements and this Hodik weather station is one such device. Moreover, it does the job both inside and outside. I wish I could compare it to a precision instrument -- getting humidity to 1% or better requires very careful measurement, probably with a sling psychrometer, and I don't own such a device. Nonetheless, I am confident that the Hodik unit is within a few percent of true humidity -- something I can't say for most of the gadgets I've purchased on Amazon. I've watch its humidity values over a few days and they agree with physical reality (e.g., dew and condensation in the environment) as well as with other high-quality devices I trust. Yay Hodik! The devices themselves (indoor and outdoor units) are nicely built and engineered. I've never seen an outdoor unit that displays temperature and humidity locally -- that's a cool addition and I wasn't expecting it. The indoor unit is fine, but it could use a "quick start" explanation. The user manual is typical for Chinese equipment and is a bit too much for most people, including me. So here is a quick start "manual": 1. Insert 2 AA batteries in the remote unit and 3 AA batteries in the indoor unit (or plug in its power adapter). 2. Put the remote unit outside. 3. Tap the lightbulb-Zz "button" on the top center of the indoor unit to see what's happening -- it's not a physical button; it's touch sensor that probably detects the capacitance of your finger. That "button" takes some getting used to. 4. Note: if you plug in the power adapter and tap that "button" once, twice, or repeatedly, the display will stay on. If you use only batteries indoors, you'll have to keep tapping the lightbulb-Zz button, which is a nuisance. 5. About 5 or 10 minutes after you turn the unit on, the radio antenna icon will disappear and you'll then be able to set the time, date, etc. At that point, the "mode" button on the back of the indoor unit will start working. Cycle through the settings, using the up and down buttons to get the values right. 6. You'll now have a fully functional indoor unit, except for the fact that the "atomic clock" accuracy won't kick in for a day or two or three (it requires radio contact with WWVB from Colorado that will happen in the early morning hours). The atomic clock isn't in the unit; instead, the unit listens to WWVB and obtains super-accurate time from that transmission. It took my unit 3 days and a repositioning to get it to sync with WWVB. Bottom line: this Hodik weather station is a great device. I've used other stations over the years and this one is at least as good as the best of that group. I am particularly happy to have a remote/outdoor unit that measures humidity accurately. That it reports that humidity (and the temperature) at the outdoor unit itself is an added bonus. Wow, that's a cool feature!

I used to depend on watching the nightly news to get the forecast for my area but I find they have been less than reliable of late. I turn more frequently to a government website to get an idea of what type of weather is coming down the pipeline but even that is hit-or-miss at times. I’ve always been curious about these home weather stations. This one features a fairly large display (7-1/2”) which is colourful. The display shows the time, day of the week, date and moon phase. You can select Celsius or Fahrenheit. It shows barometric pressure, humidity levels plus things like weather forecast and trend and daily minimum/maximum data. The brightness level of the screen is adjustable or can be darkened completely. The main unit has a sensor and there is a remote which can be positioned outdoors or on another level of your home to record information there. The Atomic is not available in Canada so us hosers will need to set the date and time manually, eh! The weather station can support 3 sensor but the unit comes with one. I’m not sure how much important moon phase will be for me but humidity levels are of extreme interest to me due to my arthritis. I’ll know if it is going to be a bad day or not just by the humidity levels. I’ve never understood barometric pressure but I do know that I usually get a migraine when there is a change in the barometric pressure. I’ll need to learn more about it but it may help me to manage my headaches better if I know there’s a good chance of one coming on due to the weather. I am just starting to learn about how the weather is tracked and calculated but this week will be interesting. It is supposed to hit 28C tomorrow but drop down to 5C at night next week. I’ll be watching to see how accurate the weather station is and what other tidbits about the weather it can offer. Not only is this convenient but it can be an interesting family project of learning about weather together. I know I am enjoying being my own forecaster. The cost of the weather station in April 2025 was $14.99 Item reviewed: *Weather Station with Manual Setting Indoor Outdoor Thermometer Wireless, Humidity and Temperature Monitor Barometer Hygrometer with High Precision Sensor CA *I include the item reviewed original listing in the event that the listing is changed over time. This Hodik weather station is a great addition to any home as it provides reliable information and functionality that is useful to any homeowner. Setup of the weather station is really straightforward: simply add 2 AA batteries to the remote sensing unit, mount it outside in an appropriate location, and setup and plug in the weather station screen. There is some initial setup to do to ensure the weather station is providing accurate information (such as setting the time zone and current atmospheric pressure), but the manual has easy-to-follow step-by-step instructions that get this accomplished in just a few minutes. I have been tracking the accuracy of this device against both my local weather service information and other devices I have that read temperature and humidity and the Hodik weather station seems to maintain a reasonably high level of accuracy. I love that the screen has two brightness levels and the ability to turn the screen off just by tapping the top of the frame - this is really handy if you have your device at your bedside and want to keep it dark for sleep. There are a number of functions that add to the weather station's usefulness: barometric pressure is tracked over a 12-hour period, temperature and humidity trends are shown, there's high and low temperature alerts, the daily min/max can be viewed and there's even an alarm so this device can wake you up in the morning. Personally, I think this is a great device to have on the nightstand to be viewed when you wake up in the morning, as it tells you a lot about what to expect once you decide to venture outside! I will note that the listing for this device says that: "Atomic is not available in Canada, you need to set the date and time manually". This is not entirely true as many areas of Canada outside of the far north and far east can receive a signal from the WWVB radio transmission in Boulder, Colorado. I'm in Edmonton, about 600 kilometers north of the US border, and my clock picks up the transmission no problem at all and is keeping perfect time. So if you do get this clock give the atomic clock feature a try, you may just be surprised at the result!

I’m quite taken with this little weather station. The build quality feels good, and I really like the oversize screen. I find the black background easier on the eyes than standard screens, and the colour display is very attractive. It also hosts quite a bit of information, from date/time, to moon phase, weather forecast, etc. The screen comes with an AC adapter, but it can also be used with 3 AA batteries, if you prefer. I like that you can change the screen’s power settings by tapping the backlight/standby button at the top (you can choose from full, low power, or off). A temperature probe is included, and it requires 2 AA batteries (which aren’t included). One of the neatest features is that the receiver/screen can also communicate with temperature probes from some other generic brands. I’m currently using another brand on our porch, and this immediately picked up the signal as soon as I plugged it in. That can allow you to monitor other probes by setting them to different channels and then switching between them on the screen. Setup is a bit confusing at first, but it’s easy once you get the hang of it. When you plug it in, press and hold the “Mode” button for three seconds, and then you’ll enter the edit mode where you can change the date, time, etc. The manual is helpful and easy to understand if you run into any trouble. This appears to be a solid little unit, and my ever-worsening eyesight really appreciates the larger screen. When I ordered it the price was listed at $14.99, which I think is a phenomenal deal for a product of this quality. No price is currently listed though, so I’m going to provisionally give this 4 stars in case the price changes. 4 stars

I picked this up hoping it’d make the morning scramble a little smoother—and honestly, it's been surprisingly useful. The screen is big, bright, and easy to read even from across the room, which is great when you’re juggling school lunches and trying to guess if the kids need raincoats or sunscreen. Setup was pretty easy, though I did have to tinker a bit with the settings. The instructions are clear, but the buttons are all on the back, so adjusting anything means flipping it around—not ideal if you’ve already mounted it. I really like the outdoor sensor showing temp and humidity both on the station and directly on the sensor itself. That little screen on the sensor is actually handy when I’m in the garage or on the porch. You can connect up to three sensors if you want to track different zones (like backyard, front porch, maybe even the greenhouse if you’re fancy). It doesn’t cycle through them automatically though—you have to press a button on the back each time, which is a bit clunky. The atomic clock actually worked here in Alberta, which surprised me—I figured it wouldn’t pick up the signal, but it synced up perfectly in a few minutes. Just be aware it doesn’t work in every part of Canada. Also, it doesn’t offer all time zones (if you’re in Newfoundland or Atlantic, that could be a dealbreaker). As for accuracy, I compared it to a couple other thermometers I have, and it was within half a degree. The humidity seems solid too. Plus, I love that it shows trends over time and includes moon phases—my daughter’s oddly obsessed with the moon right now, so that’s been a fun bonus. My only real gripe is the overly sensitive touch area on top. I keep accidentally turning the display off or dimming it when I try to adjust something else. But the option to dim or shut off the display is a lifesaver if you have it in a bedroom—no glowing light show while you’re trying to sleep. All in all, it's a solid weather station for everyday family use. It gives you a quick glance at what’s going on without needing to open a weather app or look out the window in your pajamas. Not perfect, but definitely helpful.

Weather Station with Manual Setting Indoor Outdoor Thermometer Wireless, Humidity and Temperature Monitor Barometer Hygrometer with High Precision Sensor CA. The weather station has a nice looking screen with different colors to separate the different measurements and make them stand out. It is bright but can be dimmed (bright, dim, off) using a touch location at the top. The screen has a built in stand to sit it on a desk or counter and it also has built in hangers to mount it on the wall. The device is powered using plug in power supply, or it can be run off a battery. In battery mode, the screen light shuts off after 10 seconds of no use to preserve power. When plugged in, it stays on if you want it on. The weather station supports 3 different sender units at the same time, but only displays 1 at a time. You can select which one displays, but it doesn't cycle them if you have more than 1. That is an inconvenience because the select switch is on the back, so you have to take it off the wall to change channels. The weather sender units are nice and have a switch so you can select which channel each sender unit operates on. Each one also displays its own temperature and humidity on a small LCD screen on the front of the sender device. They work well and seem to have lots of range. The temperature was accurate enough. It measured within 0.5 degrees of another more precise and trusted temperature device I have. I was able to easily set the time and functions of the weather station. There were only 4 time zones (PST, MST, CST, EST) available and I was able to cycle between them. I couldn't find an Atlantic time zone (AST) nor Newfoundland time zone (NST). Since I am in the Atlantic time zone, this is useless to me. I like the look of this weather station and it works fine for measuring temperature, but it has a few minor annoyances, especially with the time and channel selection.
