After reading another review about gluing two small neodiium magnets on the shutter I thought I would give it a try and I can confirm it works flawlessly and no rattles coursed by the with blowing the lid open .Maybe the seller ought to consider adapting them at the factory.

The "rubber" washers fitted that are supposed to " keep the quiet while working " are quite hard and have the opposite effect to that intended. It only takes the slightest of a breeze to cause a quite loud "rapping" noise every time the shutter hits against the grill housing - which is often even with a slight breeze..If you are looking for the "quiet" life - this air vent is not for you.Being returned.

Looks great and the idea of dampening bits sounds great. BUT in reality. You drill a big hole in wall. then pop a tube into it with a big metal beater on the other side,So what u end up with is a big Wall Drum. that with every lil bit of wind opens and then bangs the swinging plate (which is amplified by the tube in the wall, and the rubber seal ) .. there is a reason drums are the shape they are lol.I have cured this by taking off the damper on the outer shade and installing very strong magnets on the flap to pin it to the shade. and a fine mesh to the hole.In the winter I will reverse Magnets and use them to seal the hole!

The flaps on my current kitchen vent are super annoying as they smack open and closed when it's windy. It is LOUD and can get really quite bothersome - especially at night.This air vent was a perfect replacement as it was the right size and is super easy to install as the screw holes were already there from the previous one! The fact that this one is hooded means that it's protected from the wind (my original one didn't have a hood), and it also has foam in it to further dampen any movement noises.Overall, I'm personally really happy with this vent as it does the job perfectly, was a simple install, and looks quite nice to be honest! Would recommend.
