Works great for a 2015 forester
Works great for my 2015 forester, needed to have it professionally programed by a local company for $75 but still a lot cheaper than getting a spare from the dealership, even though they only gave me one key when I bought it 😒

Key shank not compatible with 2015 Subaru Forester
NOT compatible with 2015 Subaru Forester as advertised. The shape of the key shank that physically inserts into the ignition is not compatible with a 2015 Subaru Forester. It can't even be inserted into the lock. The groves don't match the shape of the key shown in the pictures. I returned the key and a replacement was sent. The second key was the same as the first.

Works great! Great value for backup Subaru keys
I actually ordered this key blank in March of 2018, but I was finally able to actually use it now in May of 2023. Back in 2018 when my '17 WRX was a relatively new car, every locksmith I called would immediately respond with "Nope!" as soon as I gave them the Make Model and Year. So the fob sat in a drawer for 5 years and I, fortunately, managed to avoid losing my only car key for that whole time.Fast forward to today, now that the car is old news, and it was a cakewalk getting this working. Found the fob again, checked the battery (it was good!) and called my local Batteries Plus about cutting and programing. For $85 out the door, they got the key cut and working just like it was OEM. $135 for a spare key vs dealership cost makes this a slam-dunk choice. Really pleased that I was able to get this done after such a long time, hence the review. One piece of advice, if you plan on taking the Batteries Plus route make sure you call around if there are multiple in your area. One location quoted me almost twice as much as what I ended up paying.

Worked as advertised
I have a 2017 Subaru Impreza. This key worked perfectly. The locksmith had no issues cutting or programing the key to work with my car.

Worked as a valet key
The buttons didn't work but I can use it as a valet key ..and I did take it to the dealership to make the keys

The right key/fob at a reasonable price! Great service.
I wanted to get an extra set of keys for our Subaru's. Most chip-key duplication services can't make Subaru keys. I checked out several firms. Many thought they could, but could not. Some said they could if I could get the blanks, and they could not either. Some had very high charges, greater than $150.The answer: KeylessOption and Batteries Plus!KeylessOption helped me get the exact correct key/fob for my Subaru's. This was not a trivial task. Many of the lookup/cross reference services did not identify the correct keys for my cars. The trick is to use the FCC ID number. With it KeylessOption was able to get me what I needed. Batteries Plus has a new system that can duplicate Subaru keys. They charged me $40 to cut and program a key. Their prices for keys/fob's are pretty high. KeylessOption cab get you the right key and at a good price. In the end I was able to get working keys for my cars at a total price of $80 each, which is about 1/2 of my other options.A big thank you and my highest compliments to KeylessOption. They helped make this project a success. Without them this project would have failed.

Did not work
Had key cut by locksmith and attempted to program for $75 didn’t work, then went to the dealer and paid $230 to get it programmed and that didn’t work so I’m out over $300 now on attempting to program and also the cost of the keys

Far cheaper than going to the dealership.
As I recall, the Subaru dealer would have charged about $200+ for the replacement key and its programming. The locksmith I used charged $40. Buying the key from him would have added another $185 to the bill. This key was $38.95 (plus tax.) That means replacing the key was about $80 vs the $200+ the dealer would have charged. Also, I had tried with another Amazon vendor and twice they gave me keys that didn't work. I think one was defective although the second one was set at the wrong frequency - that may have been the issue with the first key.
