Theory and Application of Modern Strength and Power Methods: Modern methods of attaining super-strength

A true gem among strength books
I love this book! Although the book is relatively thin, it is very thorough. The author delves into many, many things that can and will increase the effectiveness of your training. It focuses primarily on strength but it does also explain how to use many of the applications for gaining muscle mass as well. This book is crammed with information! It is not the usual rehash of what every other book says and it is definately NOT another fad book. Christian Thibaudeau backs up everything he has to teach you with research and leaves little room for doubt about the effectiveness of each method he explains. Some of the methods that were proven effective by the incredible Westside Barbell (ie. chains, bands, and weight-releasers)are covered in here also. I was astonished to see even a chapter on using EMS (electromyostimulation) for strength and athletic performance. This is a first class book from a first class coach and if you are looking for the best in information to absorb and add to your toolbox, as a lifter or a coach, you NEED this book. Some of it you may have heard of before, much of you probably haven't...at least not as clearly and in-depth as here, also you can be pretty sure that (at the time I am writing this) you will probably not find another book with all of this information in one place. Here are the chapters:part 1: The science of strengthpart 2: Specific applications of the methodspart 3: Training tools: weight releaserspart 4: Training tools: jumpstretch bandspart 5: Training tools: other effective training toolspart 6: The integrated training planpart 7: Special Topic: EMS for sportspart 8: Special Topic: Explosive strength exercisespart 9: Special Topic: Women and strength trainingpart 10: Special Topic: Eccentric Quasi-Isometricspart 11: Conclusion The chapters may appear to be somewhat plain to many of you...they are not! There are many subcategories within each chapter. (For example, a thorough explanation of the techniques used in manipulating the effects of concentric, eccentric, isometric, and Kinetic energy accumulation training is in the first chapter.)The book is full of charts to clearly demonstrate how to use variations of the various topics (timing, percent of maxes, etc.) for specific results. Get this book and you will be glad you did. It's a real goldmine. Thanks goes out to Coach Thib for this masterpiece!

Great All Around Strength Book
This book covers many topics on how to get strong, one of my go to resources when making programs. Book is great for beginners and advanced lifters a like. Makes you think of different rep and set schemes to get stronger and or lose fat as well. Would recommend for anyone looking to switch up the old 3 x 12 routine.

What's with the pictures ???
Although the information in the book is well worth reading the "pictures" or should I say solid black rectangle pictureboxes leave much to be desired. It looks as if they photo copied this book from bad photo copies, they may as well havedeleted the picture boxes because you can't see what is being described. Nevertheless if you'd like to have a more in-depthknowledge of training then I would recommend although I do think this is for the advanced trainee.

For the physics kid inside you
Good book and informative about the physics (math) behind exercise. I would get this book as a supplement to his other book "Black Book of Training Secrets"

A Decent Book on Strength
Written by an ex-Poliquin disciple. This nice book contains some interesting facts on Strength Training but there is nothing more than what you can find reading the t-nation articles.Just a collection of old and new methods on the development of strength and muscle. Nothing shocking here.If you are a begginer, i think you can benefit from this book.A decent book with a bad layout by the way.

An amazing book for anyone who's serious about strength training
First off I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone that's pretty casual about strength training or is paying a personal trainer to come up with their workouts for them. That said, if you are some type of trainer, strength and conditioning coach or are just very hardcore about training (or plan to be any of these), then I would highly recommend this book for you. The author says this book is designed for athletes but it does contain many methods for increasing muscle mass for those who focus on aesthetics (athletes focus on performance when they train). If you are interested in reading some of the author's articles before buying this book I recommend you visit the t-nation website which he writes for frequently.

I received this book and most of the photos in it are blacked out. It really detracts from the quality of the content.
