I love homemade burgers, and I bought these for that purpose. I just used them for the first time, a few days ago, and they worked just as I hoped. They’re large enough to flip a large patty with no problems. I found them to be easy to open and close, as well as to hold. They helped me flip burgers faster than I’d ever been able to do in the past. I appreciate how they allow me to pick up the patties without the patties breaking. I also like how quickly they help me place the patties precisely where I want them on the grill. The serrated edge is useful for cutting into patties, but you have to be careful because it’s quite sharp. I haven’t used them long enough to know how durable they are, but they seem to be well made. (I’ll update if anything changes.). I wash and dry them immediately after using them, and they are stored inside, so I expect them to last a long time.

Works great, especially for turning things over on the grill.

When I saw this product I had to have it. I love grilling and do so almost everyday. Before purchasing these I always either used a pair of OXO Tongs or a simple spatula, now these grill tongs are my go to grilling tool. As a spatula, they're large enough to flip the biggest burgers. They have a nice edge that really makes it easy to get beneath the burger and get it off of the grill surface. As tongs they can lift almost anything. I have used them for grilled chicken, grilled veggies, burgers, and steaks, all without problems. They do, however, have some issues grabbing onto hot dogs or sausages, since they tend to roll as you try to get beneath them with the spatula, just like with any spatula. The tong feature does make it easier to deal with sausages and hot dogs compared to a standard spatula, but standard tongs work best. My only gripe with the grill tons is that when closed, the two ends are not completely on top of one and other. Because of this, the spatula cannot be used in the closed position or you run the risk of slicing your food, especially a burger. Opening the tons up before using them as a spatula fixes this problem, so it's not a deal breaker.

This tong/turner combination was, for me, the ultimate revolution in creating the perfect grilled cheeseburger - with no exaggeration. I had been getting into grilling cheeseburgers more and more in the past year, seeking to come up with a fool-proof method, particularly as it applies to the TIMING of: 1) flipping over the burger one time only; 2) getting the cheese onto the grilling patty at the proper time; and 3) getting the buns onto the grill for toasting. Timing was always dicey when I was using a conventional spatula-type burger flipper (Brinkmann brand) - it was tough to get the Brinkmann flipper to do a consistent job of neatly placing the burger or bun onto the grill. So basically, as I was trying to flip all the burgers, heat was lost and time was consumed by correcting sloppy flipping jobs. It's easy to lose your patience like that, and you still end up with an inferior cheeseburger. Not good. Well, the battle against chaotic burger and bun flipping has ended, thanks to the GrillPro 40240 tong/turner combination. The main thing the GrillPro has done is enable me to have perfect precision in flipping burgers and adding/removing buns from the grill. The precision allows me to maintain temperature by keeping the grill open for a brief flash of time, while I quickly flip the burgers over without having them fall over or get placed away from their proper location (as would typically occur with the typical flipper/spatula). The precision gained from using the GrillPro product allowed for all parts of the cheeseburger-making process to occur EXACTLY when they needed to, thus allowing for the perfect melting of the cheese, as well as the perfect toasting of the buns: no more excessively melted cheese dripping from the patty or charcoal "crackers" from burnt buns - it all comes out perfectly. As far as use as tongs, they are perfect for grasping relatively thick pieces of meat, such as burgers. They don't close so tightly like regular tongs, so I would not use them for grasping small or fine items from the grill. Otherwise, these are absolutely perfect for exclusive use as burger flippers - a must for every cheeseburger lover out there to make the perfect grilled cheeseburger. Highly recommended!

Great item! Been using it on my grill

Extremely lightweight and lacks pincher strength. Was able to use it to flip a 6 ounce salmon filet on the grill, but didn't work for an 8oz tenderloin steak that was irregularly shaped. Wasn't able to grasp it firmly with this tool, and the meat kept sliding away. Won't be keeping it, as it would just clutter up the drawer with my grilling tools.

Great idea to replace a spatula and tongs with one implement. I used this for the first time the other day when making burgers on the grill. I had some bacon to put on them, and this was perfect to turn the bacon, flip the burgers, put the bacon strips on the burgers - all of it. Very nice. Good quality construction & materials too.

I have had a set of these double spatulas for about 18 years and finally have to replace beause the hindge is gotten very loose. These are perfect. Don't buy the cheap ones. Seen some for like 8 bucks but they are cheap and flimsy. Shell out the extra cash, its worth the price.

Easy to use and clean. It scraps food out of the slightly sticky grill perfectly. It's not meant to "grab" food as you would with a tong. So you'd have to access food in a more horizontal position. If you like to grab food instead of "scoop" your bbq, this won't work well as it will slip out. You will need time to adjust to this as I did. Other than that I think it's great. Good quality steel very easy to clean not like those sticky ones out there.

Been using for 1+ year, no complaints. Still springs open; latch works easily. No gummyness on handle. (I wash it by hand; no dishwasher.) No rust or discoloration. Works perfectly for flipping everything, no matter how delicate; it's the only BBQ tool we use.

What a game changer pair of tongs. Great for flipping burgers, can pick up multiple hot dogs at a time and when clamped you can use it like a metal spatula. Although I will say because of the rectangle shape I prefer using tongs that are more narrow to be able to grab things. With these it's more like a scoop/clamp method.
