These are great ratchets, they have a superior grip-padding and aesthetic to the other ones I bought, the 1500LB break / 500Lb load 18ft red ones that say "Gear Ensure" or something. I am very pleased with them, highly recommend. The only reason I bought more of the other ones instead of more of these is because for my particular application, the few extra feet of length proved to be essential, and the extra strength rating makes me feel better even if it's marginal. Those ones also come in a little less packaging which is always nice. IF you are packaging more delicate stuff that you want to be more sure to not-scratch, THESE ones are your huckleberry though. Much larger rubber grip, more comprehensive cushioning. They have a slightly more robust "feel" to them also, despite being rated lower, if that is important to you. Want to also stress that neither model is a very wide strap, these are domestic-moving/kayak/camping/stuff on the car straps, not cargo/commercial/big stuff straps. They work fine for my motorcycle, but it is a Ninja 250. If I had a bigger and more expensive bike or a big ol ATV or was moving things on a pallet or flatbed, I would want wider straps, and beefier ones. Would probably try to get made-in-the-USA too so I can trust the ratings more, but that may just be my personal prejudice.

Used 4 of these ratchet straps to hold down 2 12ft fishing kayaks that weight 75lbs each on kayak carriers on a trailer for a 2 hour trip. On the way to our destination we had to stop 6 times to retighten. Twice the S hooks came loose from the anchor points. On the way home, in the rain, we stopped 8 times. They would not stay tight, and found out that due to the rain, the red straps dye got all over everything. Not happy with these at all.

Have no illusions about it. These are among the cheapest you can get so don't go in expecting greatness. They do work, but one of the release clips was fit into a gap that is too large so it goes crooked and jams in place. This happened several times in the half hour I needed them for. Otherwise they did work and the price is right, just don't trust these straps with any very important work.

Returned not as heavy duty as expected.
