If your Zodiac MX8 is not climbing the walls like it used to, get one of these. It`s easy to install/youtube videos. Look at the two buckets in the ladder. To bad its programmed unwisely, It spends a lot of its time doing 360 deg.turns, what i call sit and spins. Wasting time when it could be moving along cleaning. They need to redesign the direction control device. I would have gotten something else if knew this.

My Baracuda MX8 stopped working the other day and when I pulled it out of the pool, I noticed the blades on the engine had broken off. No idea how this happened, but thought my pool cleaner was dead. Low and behold, I was able to grab a replacement engine on Amazon and 2 days later my pool cleaner is working like new again. Took me about 10 minutes to install, so as long as you have a Philips-head screwdriver, you will be good to go…just make sure you pay attention to the direction you are installing the engine (I am honestly not sure if its Omni-directional haha).

Yes, the "engine" in your Zodiac Baracuda gets worn out over time. It is just plastic and rubber after all. But I was surprised at how much the engine replacement increased performance. Just by looking at the old unit I could not really see any visual evidence of wear and tear...and my Baracuda is seven years old. But after installing this new engine my unit is climbing the walls and cleaning the floor like never before. Replacement is quite easy and there are YouTube videos to walk you through every step of the process. So if your Baracuda seems to be slowing down on the job and your unit is a few years old, an engine replacement will be money well spent.

I bought a knock off brand that didn't last long or work well. I decided to buy the official product. I Installed it today, and the difference is night and day with movement and climbing walls.

The original part only lasted 9 months, hopefully, I don't have to replace it every 9 months.

We named our MX6 "Brandon" since it is slow, spends a lot time going in circles looking lost, gets stuck, and sometimes needs a push. But when it decided not to move at all, it was time for some new parts. Replaced the engine, the tracks, and the bottom scrubby/spinny bit. All parts fit and way cheaper than buying a new cleaner.

The media could not be loaded. This OEM replacement is affordable and allows the vacuum to climb walls and clean more better.
