Very good switch for small office or home use.
I have used previous model (1400-8G) for a while and was quite happy with it. I expected 1410-8G switch to work just fine right out of the box as well. It really did, I just plugged it and it works since then without a single glitch.Actually 1410-8B is a better than its predecessor. It can handle larger packets, it is much smaller and cable receptacles conveniently positioned at the rear panel (1400-8G has them on the front panel). Also 1410-G can be mounted on the wall and kit includes all the hardware necessary.Switches of this product line don't require any setup or configuration, really 100% plug and play, which is huge plus for small office or home user. This switch really stands up when a mix of Gigabit and lower speed adapters used. Cheaper Gigabit switches frequently effectively run entire network at the speed of the slowest adapter. This one makes sure that any two computers communicate at the maximum speed possible.Switch delivers great performance for the money. In my opinion that is a great choice for small office or home network.

This works great yet has lifetime warranty next day replacement.
When my old gigabit switch failed after ten years I bought a Netgear GS108 which was trash because it wouldn't handle DHCP pass-through requests. See review at http://www.amazon.com/review/R38653BCL7XLRD/ref=cm_cr_pr_perm?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B00006RVPWI bought this one after some better research and I'm please to say it works as a switch should. It has several added features such as lifetime warranty replacement, connections in rear, wall mount hardware, low wattage and jumbo frame.

OK this is a great switch, just beware that you can not network Team NIC cards with this product and it is close to the price point where it should be standard.

Solid as a rock. No regrets purchase.
I just plugged this baby in, and, as usual, it worked. It's really a install and forget item. I'm converting my business network over to HP ProCurve switches exclusively. It handles jumbo packets happily and just churns the packets down the cat6.The lack of hassle far outweighs any (small) premium to get the HP name. They have a good warranty, too. However, I've no experience with HP switch warranties, since I've never seen one die :). It's the only switch I'm willing to get off eBay, though they're usually the same price as Amazon and NewEgg. With SuperSaver shipping there's no reason to go anywhere else.Cheap, and dependable as a rock. 5 stars. I will absolutely buy more of these. No question.TIP: put these babies on a UPS, and all your PC's will still be able to talk to the server in a power blip. It'll also drink most switch-killing spikes.

Great small units
These are great units for quick throw in ((under the desk)), have never had one fail and they have a small footprint.

Fine switch but I see no difference from my cheapo d-link
I wasted my money thinking this would solve my problem with a popcorn hour unit that wouldn't play nice with my current switch.

A great home switch or small desktop switch
This is a great switch that does exactly what you expect, nothing more, nothing less. I have been using this switch for about a year and it has continued to work flawlessly. I have had a previous model of this switch for a few years. This model and the previous model are both great at performing basic gigabit switch duties, continuing to work and not taking up much space.Pros:- Lifetime warranty- Fan-less / Silent- Small- Good Gigabit performanceCons:- External power brick

Rock solid with a warranty that can't be beat
I have been using HP Procurve switches for years. Last year we decided to deploy a hosted VoIP phone system. A couple months later when we added some computers and moved some offices around, we found the need for an additional network switch. I initially bought a couple switches from another popular manufacturer to save a few dollars. The other brand worked fine for the computers, printers and other hardware attached to them but the VoIP handsets would periodically lose connection with the network and have to reboot themselves. This resulted in numerous dropped calls, not to mention the 2-3 minutes the phone would be offline while it rebooted. After much time with tech support for our hosted provider, we finally isolated the suspected problem to the network switch. I swapped out the offending switch for another one by the same manufacturer with the same results. After many hours of troubleshooting and pulling out my hair, I ordered the HP Procurve 1410-8G Switch to add to the array of other HP Procurves on our network, and got rid of the ones by the other manufacturer.
