This insert fits into the stock E36 cup holder location, replacing the short/shallow insert ring. It locks into place and allows the cup holder to fit much larger American sized cups, including the extra large offerings of convenience stores and fast food drive throughs.

Not what i expected
It will not hold this holder any better than it does drinks... both topple over. I think you are expected to permanently afix this in some manner, which i suppose would work fine. I am not interested in tdoing that, so I returned it and just got a very narrow bottomed coffee mug
