We are new to travel trailer camping - it was always tent camping. We purchased a new unit this spring. One of the things I read about on blogs was that the storage compartment locks on many travel trailers (TTs) and RVs use common keys. I found that to be true when we got our TT. I first ordered a different set of tubular locks as they were cheaper in price and as it turned out, cheaper in quality. I returned those and purchased these. These are very sturdy locks. They work terrific. These are the locks you want if you are interested in better security for the compartments on your RV or TT

The lock is good and fits well in the Truck toolbox, however, it would be nice if one could specify the cam length needed. I ended up having to cut and grind about half of the cam off so it works. Granted I knew I would have to do that when I ordered it, but it would be very nice if either a choice of lengths were available or we could specify the length needed.

Problem solving; These are a decent quality. There is one problem that causes most of the negative reviews, but is solvable: With key removed I turned the cam 1/8 turn and it locked in that position with a click. Now I cannot insert the key and the lock is stuck. what to do? There is a way to save the lock. I had the same problem (very frustrating), and figured out a solution; You should have 2 keys for the lock. On the top of the key, is a "tooth" (makes it so the key only fits in one way). Take one of the keys, and file the tooth off (see picture). Carefully file so as not to distort the rest of the key. This will allow the key to be inserted into the lock, but it won't be able to turn the lock tumbler. Hold it in tight, and you can turn the cam on the back to get the keyway back to the regular position. Hang on to the modified tool for the next time the lock decides to rotate out of position.

I received these locks quickly. Upon receiving I noticed neither had the lock washer I expected to help keep the nut in place once installed in my mailbox. I wrote the vendor and was offered a solution that was very acceptable. The locks seem to be very well made and the price could not be beat!! I like that these locks have the tubular security keys so hopefully will a bit less easy to tamper with and I liked that when ordering both at the same time they are keyed alike so no fumbling with two different keys when going out to retrieve my mail from my mailbox. I would highly recommend this seller and would use them again without hesitation.

I ordered two of them to replace the locks of my truck tool box. They fit perfectly and had no problem putting them in. And one of the locks works great but the other one is really hard to twist open and when it is unlocked the key will not come out. I tried to get in touch with the maker of them but couldn't figure it out so I guess I'm stuck with it

Replaced key lock on Harbor Freight Union Safe due to missing keys. This lock is minutely larger in all dimensions and appears heavier/stronger than the one originally in the safe. The key for this new lock will not fit in the original lock. The mounting hole through the safe door had to be clearanced slightly with a file to allow the cylinder to fit. Bent the actuator slightly to clear internal parts and contact the opening mechanism properly. Works great.

I abused this little lock device during installation since I had to make some furniture modifications at the same time. I gripped all parts of it with pliers, turned the key hard, and put some marks on the metal. But still worked fine. I squirted some 3-in-one oil inside and then it turned even more silky smooth. What I like about this style of lock is that it won't release the key unless it is in the lock position. That way the enclosure is always locked, unless you have your keychain dangling on the side. I read one review about the lock getting stuck if you apply force a certain way, and I tried to reproduce that issue but couldn't. So this cam lock is just fine.

I bought this lock about 2 weeks ago. Quality looks good. It was an easy installation too. So far, everything works great!

Had to beef up security on a metal locker (less pick probable) old goes out this one goes in no problem what so ever just pick the right length. Added stainless steel 1-1/2 inch washers behind the lock and on the other side before the nut for more strength less chance of it being ripped out. It will do great 5 stars. Btw I did not use the included latch I used 2 inch cold rolled flat bars that locks up and down. Had to improvise on this one lol
