Think you can't go wrong for $9 - think again :-(
I figured for $9 it was worth a shot to go with a no name author. Sorry Ryan you really need to pay someone to proof read and tech edit future books. Spelling and grammar mistakes before you even hit the real content. Capitalization Everywhere, random "quotes" in places that makes no sense and exclamation points like an ebay review!!!!!!But maybe the content makes it worth the price. Unfortunately not. Its most a chatty, stream of consciousness narrative of some very basic tutorials. There's little actual teaching or tips and in places he doesn't understand he simply quotes the documentation as if that explains everything.I would return to amazon but I think the shipping would cost me more than the refund. I've since discovered that the author has a free ebook version in the Unreal forums so I'd recommend checking that out before buying a physical copy

Good but short
It is not bad but not great either.I wish it had more content and it is definitely useful for someone that just installed unreal. For example it took me a day to understand how blueprints communicate with each other and if i had reād this book day one it would have saved me some time but as it stands right now if you have spent a week with unreal engine then this book becomes irrelevant. In my opinion the whole book should have been chapter one of the book and the writer should have continued with more advanced topics like saving, checkpoints, menus etc.The HUD examples are very useful though .HUD is a tough cookie to crack when you first start out with unreal.Because it is the first book for unreal 4 that aims to the newcomer i have to give the author credit for trying on uncharted waters. Unreal is the biggest game engine out there and it is no easy task for a writer to make someone that has no idea of game development to understand what is going on.It is like trying to teach someone how to operate a space shuttle with a 100page manual. And that is the reason why i am kind of dissapointed with this book.It needs more content!A solid first try though.keep it up!

"Blueprints: A Pathological case"
Typical do 'this', do 'that' material that only belongs in a video tutorial. Material is far too specific and convoluted to serve as a clear example of Blueprints usage. There should be a general overview *then* a transition to simple specifics. There is no value in hand holding you through such a complex pathological example of Blueprints. The author did not spend any effort in making it educational. The book should be renamed "Blueprints: A Pathological Case". This review is not a troll, I have degrees in both computer science and physics.

Early Review
Ok i havent read passed page one yet, but Ive flipped thought it and i have to say this so maybe the author can fix future books. COLOR IS MONEY!!!!those blue print reference images are near impossible to make out as black and white not all but most IMO. If you are going to give pictures at all in a technical book and the pictures are naturally dark like the UE blueprint screen is...we need shiney colored pictures. Ill tell you I'd pay more for color. As for content ill update after i get into the book some more.Update: Ok I am a few pages away from finishing, overall i thought the book was decent for newbies. I enjoyed how easy most of the stuff was and i think most of it could be used in just about any game. Def still would like future books in color, maybe better paper stock as well.

An honest review
Very frustrating to read on my Kindle, spacing between each word is bad but that's not even the worst part. I'm not going to waste time describing how messed up it is.The book is very short and it's very hard to follow. It covers very basic stuff about blueprints. I have gone through the whole book in 5 mins and realised I already learned most of them from Epic's YouTube channel and that It's way better to learn Blueprints from Epic's which covers more stuff and it's way easier to learn.

I counted 11 spelling mistakes on the first page and it doesn't seem to get any better after that
I find it frustrating that such poorly prepared content could be offered for sale on Amazon. I counted 11 spelling mistakes on the first page and it doesn't seem to get any better after that.

One Star
Not worth the time, most of this information can be found with little effort on the readers part.

Very Basic, Needs Editing
Very basic descriptions with hand-holding for true beginners, but misses the chance to explain more appropriate language suited to working with UE4. Also the removal of the second "L" letter, making words like "All" become "Al" makes the book tough to read.
