How can I attach if I don’t have a gutter?

This item is specifically for the purpose of attaching a rain chain to a gutter. Rain chains themselves are generally for the purpose of a decorative replacement for a gutter downspout.

What size hole do you need to cut for installation?

I did not have to cut anything as I had an existing down spout. I removed the downspout and placed this in the hole.

Why does it come with two plates?

Different sized gutter openings. One is the collar looking plate and the other is more of a hanger that sits in the gutter and comes out the spout.

How big does the hole have to be? dimensions don't state od or id.

About 2 1/4”. It comes with a reinforcing plate the exact size so you can oversized the hole you make in the gutter and that way it easily fits in. Use some roof cement to fasten and seal the plate and the gutter spout to the bottom of the gutter.
