Exceeded Expectations, Answered Questions
With a few exceptions, I have not read comics in earnest for decades. However, I was and am still a fan of "Batman: The Animated Series," where I first encountered Harley Quinn. (I consider the episode "Mad Love" to be a work of art which must have been a consciousness-raising experience for any young person watching it.) My next encounter with Ms. Quinn/Dr. Quinzel was in the recent live action film, "Birds of Prey," which I absolutely loved. As a result, I was curious about the evolution of character in the intervening decades, and I came upon this volume. My expectations were low, since my view of adventure comics is that the artwork generally far-exceeds the uninspired story-lines. This volume has changed my mind. The stories here are clever, gripped my attention, and even shocked me at times. There is even a story where the artwork appears to be hand-painted, and is most expressive. But in all cases, Ms. Quinn may be lovable, but she is not likable. She is detestable, dangerous, murderous, and untrustworthy. She is as if the Jungian Anima and Shadow had merged and come alive in the conscious world. I would not want to live in the same city with her. But this volume surprised me, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It also filled in some vague areas in "Birds of Prey," most importantly was, "What's with Quinn's beaver?" I now understand why it was the first thing she snatched up from her home when fleeing the police. I highly recommend this volume for those like me who might want to catch up on what Dr. Quinzel has been up to these past decades.

400pgs of AWESOMENESS with an identical cover to what is shown & to the picture that says it's not!
I've been a HUGE fan of Dr. Quinzel since the very first time "Mad Love" aired! It was obvious (to me & my friends) that she would be back because she was a genuinely, whole-heartly loving soul trapped inside a very deeply damaged psyche due to not only Joker's extreme forms of abuse (& most definitely his various brain damaging & further personally & mood-altering poisons & gases!), but almost certainly an abnormal life of social abberance & moral ambiguity being taught to her at best that left left her emotionally split between a loving, trusting, clinging child & a vengeful, psychopath on a randomly directed pay-back crusade against anyone or anything that dares get in her way! And both are Joker's knd of gal: the first is his favorite punching bag which the second is his match made in Heaven! BTW: I don't know what the 3-star reviewer is talking about as the picture of his cover is IDENTICAL to the pictured cover on the Amazon page selling it (& to mine)! I even did a slight rotate of his pic, cropped to the edges of the cover, enlarged it a bit, then turn the Amazon cover-shot into a 50% transparent overlay & placed it over his & they are 100% identical! Shame his 3-stars is pulling done the higher rating this 400page collection deserves!

25 years of Harley
This is a celebration of one Harley Quinn, former girlfriend of The Joker, sometime member of the Suicide Squad, and unconventional hero. Harley started on the animated Batman series where she was supposed to have been a one-shot villain. Harley entered the DC universe right in the middle of No Man's Land where Gotham was no longer a part of the United States. Harley is a unique character to say the least.
