I gave these a five star rating understanding "how" they work and how "well" they should work where I put them. They are of good build quality and easy to install and use. As they have a spring in them, they are not noisy and, in the supply line to my main home toilet and my refrigerator water supply, they stop the "hammer". However, at the very end of the house with only one way for the water to go (back against the 80 psi supply pressure) they are less successful in reducing the hammer...but they help! I am satisfied with cost and recognize that in a few years I'll need to replace them (as the spring wears out) but I'm happy with that and them. I'd buy them again.

I installed both of these arrestors and they have been working as expected. Would order them again if I had to.

I think it helped but don’t cure our problem with banging pipes. We put in an arrestor and it fixed all the banging pipes. This may work for you - the verdict is still out. My situation was much more severe.

One failed right after just a few washes. They seem to be the same cheaply made junk that is unavoidable now. I've tried a couple brands all with the same result. They won't last more than a couple months. This one didn't even make it that far.

I installed my own portable washing machine on my apartment because I wasn’t gonna pay the inflated prices they ask for the communal washing machines. The only problem I had was that there was a massive thumping noise every time I used it. After looking it up and discovering what a “Water Hammer” was, I decided to buy a water hammer arrester to hopefully get rid of the problem.The one issue I kept noticing was that a lot of the arresters had terrible reviews. Some of them only reduced the thumping, while others had no effect at all. A lot of people don’t have any faith in water hammer arresters smaller than 3/4ths. I decided to buy this one because it was the best reviewed and I figured that weaker thumpings was better than doing nothing at all. To my surprise, the thumping was completely gone! I can finally save money and time washing my clothes without worrying about damaging the pipes!

My wife runs the dishwasher after 9p because it is after peak cost time. The pipes in the kitchen would rattle during the cycles.
