The Return of Sherlock Holmes & His Last Bow (Macmillan Collector's Library)

A decade after Conan Doyle thought he was done with Sherlock Holmes he returned due to popular demand! Doyle had portrayed Holmes as plummeting to his death in a struggle with evil Professor Moriarity (the Napoleon of Crime) as the two men fell into the Reichenbach Falls in Switzerland. Doyle resumed his Holmes and Watson adventures with the former's return to London in the Empty Room story. We learn that Holmes escaped from Switzerland toured widely in Europe and Asia returning safely to his apartment in Baker Street. What follows are the excellent short stories in The Return of Sherlock Holmes collections. Conan Doyle's last collection of Holmes adventures were included in His Last Bow which is included in this beautiful Macmillan Collectors Library edition.Pure pleasure for all Sherlockians and general readers. Highly recommended.

I've enjoyed most of these versions of classic novels since they first came out in 2003. Hardback sturdiness, paperback size & price. As with most books these days, they have their share of misprints or mis-spellings, but I've learned to either live with them or to carefully correct them with liquid paper & fine-point pen.The Holmes novels, as always, are interesting, not just as mysteries, but as a look at life in the late 1800's. I've also read Doyle's "Sir Nigel" & "The White Company," a pair of his historical novels, which one can read as the adventures they are, or as a peek into English & French history & the attitudes of the time.

i am still at the moment reading this book and have found it to be all that i expected from C0nan Doyle first class story linespresented in a neat compact hard cover book,would recommend to anyone interested in Sherlock Holmes also the other titles that are offered in the same genre

Yeah. It is handy, and the font is good for reading. It is NOT an illustrated edition. I collect these small books, I have two copies. It's a bargain. Four stars only because they could have added Paget's illustrations from Strand.

Sherlock Holmes in a beautifully bound book at a very reasonable price. Add to that great service. Enough said.
