Impressed how good this for use with my Xbox Series X
I was a little skeptical about this item due to price compared to professional DAC kit like the professional iFi Dac 2 costing around £150 and that being lowest end of the price band, and going up into the thousands for top end like the Chord Qutest kit, but the sound out of this device was impressive, even the volume was way more than you'll ever need for headsets, i had to turn it down to be usable, for me I needed something for my Xbox due to controller auto turning off after 15 mins when sim racing with a Logitech racing wheel. This is seriously annoying and taking batteries out and plugging controller in directly was not fixing the issues on the controller, so after reading some reviews around, some had used something like this to get around it, all you need is for your TV to have a coaxial output or Optical Toslink output which most modern TV's do these days, this device worked straight out of the box, no messing around with any setting on TV at all. I've also plugged it into my Cambridge Audio kit later to hear how well the sound throughput is, and it's not an all singing all dancing sound system, but the sound for me sounded great, it's done the job perfectly. I honestly couldn't tell the difference in sound quality from the headset being plugged into my controller or through this, so happy days, and no more reaching for the darn controller to turn it back on again while in the middle of a race.

Delivered Promptly. Works as described.
Small lightweight device. Cables provided satisfactory for power and signal links. Works as expected. Volume control needed to be set near maximum for adequate signal strength input to Hi-fi amplifier. As described on page, no RCA cables provided as expected. I made sure I had a set before ordering.

Huge performance comes in a small package
I don't often write reviews but this little box of magic is so good it thoroughly deserves it. I bought this simply to give a games console and DVD player in a spare room, the ability to have an analogue output via the optical connection (I already have a HDMI switchbox with optical output), but with the added bonus of it having a headphone amp built in.My main amplifer for everyday entertainment is a Yamaha RX-A3050, which a couple of years ago was their flagship AV amp with a list price of ~£2000, and my headphones are Sennheiser HD-650s (~£400) so I'm well aware of what decent kit should sound like (I also use a ProJect Headbox S headphone amp too, which is ~£100) , but am absolutely astonished at how good this little 192kHz DAC/Amp sounds. Obviously, it's not as good as the Yamaha, but then nobody would expect that, but I'd confidently say this thing is giving ~80-90% of the quality/performance for 1% (yes, 1/100th) of the cost of the Yamaha at £20 (and 1/5th of the cost of my ProJect amplifier), not to mention the ridiculous size differential of the two, and bearing in mind I'm using it with pretty decent audiophile headphones, so for most people who don't have such gear, they simply wouldn't tell the difference. I certainly have no complaints about the quality as it's more than acceptable, not to mention it seems pretty capable of driving such headphones which is surprising when you consider its small size. The only downside I've encountered is the volume dial was quite sensitve when I first used it, though it seemed to get better once it was used so perhaps simply using it and warming it up has helped give it a running in.In conclusion, I'd highly recommend this to anyone looking for either a DAC or headphone amplifier. And if the electronics in it last a long time (only time will tell), I'd confidently say it's probably the best £20 I've ever spent.

Great DAC for a Great price
Solid device, provides a clean sound, neutral but most DACs typicaly are. It is a great addition as you can get the best possible audio from your home devices such as your TV or games console using the spdif (optical input). If you have never listened to a set of headphones of speakers running through and external DAC before, then let me just say that your in for a big shock, to put it simply it opens up the sounds, gives whatever your listening to definition and clarity. The price is very unreflective of the quality of this product, it has a good build quality and the addition of a volume control knob is really nice at this price. However if you are looking for something to power speakers and not just headphones then I would suggest looking at a Amp&DAC combo or maybe if your on a tight budget then maybe consider combining this with a Amp. The optical cable that is included in the box is my only gripe about this otherwise great product, I found that quality that I was getting was not right, so I used another that I had lying around and there was a significant increase in the quality of sound, I hope this is something that they can address with this product in the future, nobody should have to deal with this issue when buying a product that will probably be used with this connection. Overall this is a great product for a great price, I would recommend this to anyone that love listening to music or is a bit of an movie fanatic.

Excellent piece if kit
The media could not be loaded. I bought this so I can listed to music through my TV and hifi speakers. I purchased this along with an additional longer optical cable. I already had an interconnect with 3.5 jack in the back of my amp which I use for my mobile phone. This is ideal as this model has the 3.5 jack so I could use my existing cable. Within a few minutes is was all set up and working. Very easy to use. The box is small and stylish and looks great next to my amp. The power cord length is OK. I would definitely recommend this as its extremely excellent value for money..

Great little DAC
If you haven't got or tried an external DAC, this is a MUST TRY for a few quid. This is a great sounding little DAC, I tried it just because of it's ridiculously low price and thought it was going to be useless. I WAS WRONG!This sounds great. I've attached it to an old but was top of the range Sony amplifier and difference in sound quality is amazing.Best sound quality increase for the price I've ever found.I recommend it highly, Try it, you won't be disappointed.
