Works as advertised
What I like about this shoulder pulley. 1. It has an overall simple design. 2. The pulley is simple and works smoothly. 3. The over the door design is simple, does not damage the door or paint and stays in place when the door is closed. Easy install and removal. It’s rubber. 4. The ropes are nice and will last years or likely my lifetime. My kids will inherit this shoulder pulley system. 5. The plastic handles are comfortable and will not deteriorate since they are not foam or rubber. The rope is thread through the handle and knotted at the bottom, which allows you to tie a knot in the rope to adjust the length of the rope. I did tie a knot in the rope in my photo. 6. A sample exercise suggestion pamphlet comes with the pulley. This pulley is very similar to the one used by my physical therapist.

Great piece of simple exercise equipment
I wasn't sure what to expect from this simple item, and was afraid that it might prove too strenuous for use by someone recovering from a stroke. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it works differently from most exercise equipment. The user doesn't really have to exert much effort at all. In our case, the right arm (which is undamaged) helps to move the left arm, which gradually gains strength and mobility simply by being subjected to the motion of raising and lowering. It's not at all strenuous to use, yet offers better results than any of the other equipment we have, and better than just attempting to move the arm without assistance. There is really no installation to speak of; you simply sit it on the top of a door with the little bulging part on the opposite side from where you are standing, and then close the door. It's held firmly in place. It's made of a tough rubbery substance that seems impervious to harm of any kind, and there's not much to this simple item. But it does the job better than lots of expensive equipment. You can tuck it into a pocket or purse, take it with you, and use it anyplace where there's a door! We're really pleased with this helpful aid to regaining mobility or just getting some easy exercise.

Helpful for home PT
Fits well over my door so I can continue PT at home. Strong, functional and well built. Works well to improve my range of motion. The grips are comfortable.

Short cord
This pulley has a good quality. The cord slides easily. I got this as recommended by the PT for my husband who had reverse shoulder replacement It has helped with his recovery. My only complaint — hence 4 stars — is the size of the cord — too short. Maybe we have tall doors? I had to get my husband sitting on a bar chair (higher than a regular one) and also add 2 thick exercise foams to the chair, in order to get him to be able to hold the handles. My husband is 6’. Some exercises I had to stick the pulley to the side of the door so I can bring it down for him.

My PT at Cedars used this one...
I have had some shoulder issues, and we're trying to rehab them. My physical therapist pulled this gadget out the other day and had me work with it. He suggested I use one daily, so I ordered it, and I am seeing improvements already. This is the simplest pieces of gear I can imagine, and you may have problems with it falling off the door, but we found a workaround so it stays put. I can't believe such a low-cost, light-weight piece of gear is so effective, but I'm happy with it. It's doing the job.

Simple but Effective!
The Over the Door Shoulder Pulley is just like the one I use in physical therapy. It gently stretches my arm/shoulder to help alleviate my pain from frozen shoulder and tendonitis. I love that it allows me to do my exercises at home as well.

I bought this on recommendation from my physio as part of my rehabilitation for a broken shoulder. It works perfectly in different directions. The operation is smooth. The only drawback is that it’s a bit fiddly to fit over the door. Hopefully I won’t have to but I‘d purchase again in similar circumstances.
