Need Improvement
I have a lot of experience building RC vehicles and this includes shocks. The Carisma alloy shocks are nice in terms of fit and finish, but I found their performance to be disappointing and their assembly to be difficult. For starters, the cylinder caps were difficult to install and I cross-threaded almost every single one (Tip: spin the cylinder caps counter clock-wise until you feel the threads snap into alignment before starting to tighten. And finger tightening is fine. Don't try to use wrenches or pliers.) On top of this, I used the lowest viscosity Team Associated shock oil and the shocks still seemed to stick when the cylinders were completely full of oil. In the end, I assembled them as friction shocks with about a drop of oil in each cylinder. They function tolerably well, and the damping seems to function in spite of the fact that the cylinders are not completely full of oil. The pre-load rings are the kicker and make these shocks more useful than the stock set. Still, though, the price-tag is a bit steep and I honestly don't notice much difference between these and the stock shock set in terms of performance.
