Traditional Style Tomato Free Pasta Sauce | 280mg Sodium (2-pack, 1.00)

I got this sauce to try after being placed on a diet that does not allow me to eat tomatoes. I could not imagine never being able to have spaghetti again with the meat sauce and/or meatballs that I like so I was trying to find another option. When I read the ingredients and saw that it is made with carrots, beets, molasses and other items, I couldn't see how it would taste the same, but I decided to try it. Boy, was I surprised! It was sweeter than regular tomato sauce but after I added garlic, onion powder, Italian seasonings, and additional oregano. I didn't give it a 5 because after it heats, it is thicker than regular tomato sauce so it coats the meat well but you don't get the extra sauce for the noodles. My immediate fix for that was to make my spaghetti garlic noodles by adding a garlic butter sauce. That did the trick and it tasted delicious. The next day, I used some of the sauce to make healthy nachos by adding low fat shredded American cheese (not allowed to have cheddar), onions, iceberg lettuce and taco sauce. That was delicious too. I used the remainder of the sauce for an egg white omelet the following morning by adding the same cheese, onions, and bell pepper. Yum! While it is not as affordable as regular sauce, I will definitely buy it again because it allows me to have the food that I enjoy. I can't wait to try it on other dishes.

Flavorful!

Way better then their carrot based sauce. The carrot based was way too sweet. This is tangy and the texture wasn't runny. Could use some garlic and herbs but I understand having a more universal base for people to flavor on their own.

This sauce is pretty good. I’ve been on a new way of eating and cut out so many things so when I found this I was excited to try it. I make spaghetti and at first I didn’t like hut it’s actually not that bad. Overall it’s healthy and has low sugar and sodium.

I wanted to like this badly but it disappointed me completely. The strong vinegar taste covers the taste of all the other ingredients. Not even close to what I was hoping. It's so hard to eat aip compliant, and I get that things may not be the best tasting but this and the carrot sauce were terrible. Waste of money

I know, I know ... we're working with what we've got. But this tasted sour and kind of stale. It definitely felt like it didn't have nightshades in it, but beyond that it was pretty meh. I've made my own nomato paste with a good deal more brightness and flavor; looks like I'll be making my own sauce, because this mostly just made my meatballs taste sad.

Delicious! If you can’t have nightshades like me, this will be a life changer item! Works with pasta and so much more.
