It's a beauty .. smaller than a regular sized one .. but .. nice for display
It's a little small .. 20 years in the Coast Guard .. learned how to use one of these on my first ship .. came in handy when I became an Underway OOD on my Third ship. My wife wants me to relearn how to use it .. and then .. teach her. I think I can do that. Beautifully made.

Lovely detail
This brass replica is small but has a good heft to it. Pretty and unique for a decorative piece for a lover of antique sailing.

A very pleasant surprise
I was delighted to see that this instrument is a very nice production of the classic sextant. It is sturdy and appears to be completely functional, though I have not had time to check its long term accuracy. I recommend it.

Looks and feels great in the hand. A great gift/toy/decor item
I give this four stars because for the price and what it is advertised as, it's a good deal. It's came in great condition, looks very nice with a brassy polish, and feels substantial and weighty in the hand. It looks great on a shelf, and it's constructed well enough to function "for fun". But by no means consider it a serious navigational tool - this is a toy/decor item. It's a great gift for somebody who likes collecting Nautical things.

Very high quality workmanship
My son works in the fishing industry in Alaska. He loved it and it makes a great conversation starter.

Not a functioning sextant!
As a display knickknack for the shelf I'd have given this three stars. It's made of brass and looks nice. But the description said it was a functioning instrument, and it is not. To be sure, I was not expecting a navigation-quality instrument, but I was expecting an instrument I could take readings with for fun. It is not. The mirrors are out of alignment and, unlike a real sextant, there are no adjustment screws. So you cannot see the two side-by-side images. This alone would make it non-functional. But in addition there is a little viewer or magnifier or something to view the reading, and you cannot actually see through it. So if you could see the view, you wouldn't be able to read the reading. And finally, there is no vernier scale, so if you could see the view and read the reading, you'd have to estimate the fractions of the degrees. This is clearly not meant for any kind of use. It is a decorative object intended for display, contrary to the description. Do not buy this if you are looking for an instrument you can actually use.

Very well made Sextant and wooden box
Very well made . I read several reviews that indicated that several other products had poorly made wooden boxes, this one did not the box was very well made . The Sextant had an antique look and was very well made . Very happy with the product.

Como eles falam na site: "É um peça para colecionador. Ele não está calibrado para usar em navegação". Tem um acabamento muito bom, e as peças se movem.

What a great little sexton. It actually works. They are very hard to find in a small size. Especially one of good quality. Highly recommended!

Very nice little sextant to go along with our nautical decor. You wouldn’t use it for navigation, but then anyone ordering it should already know that. Well built, looks great, solid piece of gear.

Thia is a very nice desk ornament but is NOT a working sextant as the telescope and lenses are not set properly.
