Classic Chicken Soup, always easy and works well with my diet
I'm always happy with this soup, Progresso has good quality ingredients and tastes delicious. Easy meal on the go or for quick lunch breaks. I eat soup a lot to help with my diet since you know exactly how many calories to log and it makes portions easy. I always add some red pepper flake and some mixed peppers to spice it up a bit. Good size for lunches, pasta is always good and not mushy, easy to microwave or warm in a pan.

creamy, chunks of tomato, loaded with firm penne pasta, fresh taste, not canned flavor
I bought this on a whim when it was on sale. It is delicious! Has a natural homemade taste not a canned taste. Still loaded with sodium, but that is par for the course with canned items. On the plus side, the edge is taken off by the great amount of potassium this includes. Helps balance it out. This is really quite good. Has a thick, creamy base, chunks of tomatoes, and the penne pasta is firm not mushy. Generous amount of pasta; they dont skimp! Hence my 5 stars and an immediate repurchase. Very satisfying. Pairs so nice with a hunk of bread. Can eat as is or maybe add in some protein of choice. It is a soup that can eat like a meal.I am buying more as I see this as an excellent convenience food that has a fancy taste as well as a comforting taste. It just tastes.. fresh to me. I like keeping a fully pantry for convenience, for combating food prices, for camping, for emergencies, for sharing, and for SHTF TEOTWAWKI (that escalated quickly, haha). Looking for variety and other items that can "doctored up" with other spices and food items.Flip top/peel back lid. Good for convenience, though I usually prefer to have solid tops (need can opener) for extra long storage. Since this is tomato based, I will be sure to rotate through at high frequency over other non acidic food items.

Fantasy label image
The label shows a thick soup filled with tortellini and veggies. Not. There IS a nice, thick tomato sauce base. There are about one to two tablespoons of veggies pieces in the whole can, at best, mostly tomato and a few tiny pieces of zucchini. Maybe a piece or two of spinach. I did not notice any carrots or onions. There were about a dozen tortellini bows in the can. So still, if eating a whole can, it is a filling and tasty soup. At the price I paid, $24.95, for 12 cans, not a bad deal. I certainly would not pay a lot more per can for this soup.Low fat, high salt, high potassium and a bit of calcium and iron. Not sure if the salt content offsets the nutritional value..As I work my way through the cans, I will update this review if I find any differences to the first can I tried. Giving it four stars as it was actually a better than expected value.Update: Contents vary between cans. Second can contained only five pieces of tortellini but had lots of carrot and tomato pieces. Same thick tomato base. I wouldn't buy a case of cans like this. Update after I try some more cans.

Yum! Eastern Europe In A Can
Progresso’s Creamy Chicken Barley and Mushroom. is deeply satisfying, especially if your roots are in Eastern Europe and you need a quick fix in a hurry! Very good on its own, this soup benefits from a shake of pepper and a teaspoon or more of dill weed. With a dollop of sour cream (or real sour cream based supermarket French Onion dip) stirred in it becomes positively luxurious. I can eat this rib sticking soup every day in cool or cold weather! I would strongly urge Progesso to make this in a vegetarian version – it’s classically a meatless soup that’s hearty and “meaty” thanks to the barley and porcini mushrooms that are the traditional ingredients. The chicken in this version undoubtedly boosts the protein but that can be done in the vegetarian version by substituting cooked navy beans. Whether meatless or meaty, krupnick (as it’s known in its homeland) is unquestionably one of the great soups of the world! (A nice hunk of rye bread goes really well this, as does a marinated cucumber salad.) It’s not at difficult to make at home but if you’re only cooking for one or two, or you’re in a rush, you can’t do better than this great Progresso soup!

Ehh sort of mushy
My issue, and admittedly I was surprised, the noodles were in the mushier side. I remember this soup tasting better. Maybe they changed something. Shelf life is typical of soup and it heats no different from any other precooked canned soup
