![Disney's Moana [DVD] [2016]](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/814+yjRknwL.jpg)

Disney animated adventure set in ancient Oceania. When a fiery ocean demon threatens her peaceful island home, teenage Princess Moana (voice of Auli'i Cravalho) vows to fulfil her heroic destiny and save her people. Putting her navigation skills to the test, Moana sets out on a daring sea voyage to find the once-mighty demi-God Maui (Dwayne Johnson), the legendary creator of the Pacific Islands and the only one who can help her with her quest. Together, they traverse the treacherous open waters, encountering difficult conditions and dangerous creatures along the way, as Moana searches for the mythical island which holds the key to completing her mission. The film also features the voice talents of Jemaine Clement, Alan Tudyk and Nicole Scherzinger. The film was nominated for the BAFTA for Best Animated Film, two Golden Globe Awards for Best Animated Feature Film and Best Original Song - Motion Picture (How Far I'll Go), and two Academy Awards for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song (How Far I'll Go). Review: Incredible Disney Movie!!!! - Quite simply amazing. I'm a 33 year old man with young kids. This is amazing Disney probably the best ever and the songs are brilliant. I'll give an example below from the catchy "Where you are" and "You're welcome" ----Where You Are---- Moana, make way, make way! Moana, it's time you knew The village of Motunui is All you need The dancers are practising They dance to an ancient song (Who needs a new song? This old one's all we need) This tradition is our mission And Moana, there's so much to do (make way!) Don't trip on the taro root That's all you need We share everything we make (we make) We joke and we weave our baskets (aha!) The fishermen come back from the sea I wanna see Don't walk away Moana, stay on the ground now Our people will need a chief And there you are There comes a day When you're gonna look around And realize happiness is Where you are Consider the coconut (the what?) Consider its tree We use each part of the coconut That's all we need We make our nets from the fibers (we make our nets from the fibers) The water is sweet inside (the water is sweet inside) We use the leaves to build fires (we use the leaves to build fires) We cook up the meat inside (we cook up the meat inside) Consider the coconuts (consider the coconuts) The trunks and the leaves (ha!) The island gives us what we need And no one leaves That's right, we stay We're safe and we're well provided And when we look to the future There you are You'll be okay In time you'll learn just as I did You must find happiness right Where you are I like to dance with the water The undertow and the waves The water is mischievous (ha!) I like how it misbehaves The village may think I'm crazy Or say that I drift too far But once you know what you like, well There you are You are your father's daughter Stubbornness and pride Mind what he says but remember You may hear a voice inside And if the voice starts to whisper To follow the farthest star Moana, that voice inside is Who you are We make our nets from the fibers (we weave our nets from the fibers) The water is sweet inside (and we taste the sweet inside) We use the leaves to build fires (we sing these songs in our choir) We cook up the meat inside (we have mouths to feed inside) The village believes in us (that's right!) The village believes (ha!) The island gives us what we need And no one leaves So here I'll stay My home, my people beside me And when I think of tomorrow There we are I'll lead the way I'll have my people to guide me We'll build our future together Where we are 'Cause every path leads you back to Where you are You can find happiness right - Where you are Where you are ----You're Welcome---- Lyrics Ok, ok, I see what's happening here You're face to face with greatness, and it's strange You don't even know how you feel It's adorable! Well, it's nice to see that humans never change Open your eyes, let's begin Yes, it's really me, it's Maui: breathe it in! I know it's a lot: the hair, the bod! When you're staring at a demi-god What can I say except you're welcome For the tides, the sun, the sky Hey, it's okay, it's okay You're welcome I'm just an ordinary demi-guy Hey! What has two thumbs that pulled up the sky When you were waddling yay high This guy! When the nights got cold Who stole you fire from down below You're lookin' at him, yo Oh, also I lassoed the sun You're welcome! To stretch the days and bring you fun Also I harnessed the breeze You're welcome! To fill your sails and shake your trees So what can I say except you're welcome For the islands I pulled from the sea There's no need to pray, it's okay You're welcome! Ha, I guess it's just my way of being me You're welcome! You're welcome! Well, come to think of it Kid, honestly I can go on and on I can explain every natural phenomenon The tide, the grass, the ground, oh That was Maui just messing around I killed an eel I buried its guts Sprouted a tree, now you got coconuts What's the lesson What is the take-away Don't mess with Maui when he's on the break-away And the tapestry here on my skin Is a map of the victories I win Look where I've been I make everything happen Look at that mini-Maui just tippity-tappin' Well, anyway let me say you're welcome For the wonderful world you know Hey, it's okay, it's okay You're welcome! Well, come to think of it, I gotta go Hey, it's your day to say you're welcome 'Cause I'm gonna need that boat I'm sailing away, away You're welcome! 'Cause Maui can do anything but float You're welcome! You're welcome! And thank you! GO AND BUY THIS NOW!!! Review: An absolute classic by all standards - This has got to be, without doubt, Disney Pixar's finest achievement to-date. Despite having to watch this a hundred times each week (as our two-year old just loves it), its stays entertaining time and time again. The production quality raises the bar so high, I don't see how this film can ever be matched. On watching this, you can just tell how much time, effort and money has gone into its creation. - The story is refreshing, entertaining, and can be appreciated by all audiences. - The animation and visuals set a new standard. Historically, items that were hard to animate such as water and hair were best avoided, but here we see them illustrated as close to perfection as possible - The songs and music are excellent. Usually Disney songs tend to grind after watching a few times, but these are just brilliant. The vocal talent is outstanding (who'd have thought Dwayne Johnson would be able to pull off those high notes so well?!). Its pretty embarrassing getting caught whistling the tune to "you're welcome" at my desk... The Bowie-esque performance by Tomatoa is unusual in comparison, but yet amazing in its own right. - The moral about taking from the environment is not overdone, but important. It ties in well with the perfect compliment of character development and humour. The story also touches on feminine independance and multiculturalism. Its a fantastic blend of subject matter. - The humour is well-written, and at times subtle. The interaction between Maui and Hei Hei the chicken is brilliant; I laughed out loud as he stared at the chicken who was failing miserably to eat his food. Overall, there's nothing much more to add than that this is a new classic by all standards. Excellent in every way, and will entertain us for years to come.

Pretty decent Disney cookie cutter girl power movie
The latest in Disney's increasingly cosmopolitan not-a-princess protagonists, Moana is the daughter of an island chieftain who defies his orders to not sail on the open sea and proves that self belief is more powerful than fearful conservatism, or something - easy for her to say when she has both a demigod and the sea itself on her team, but hey, as long as we get some song and dance numbers then all's well that ends well. It verges on being a bit right-on at times, and Moana herself is such a flawless paragon it's hard to conceive of a story where she doesn't triumph (literally her only flaw is not having ENOUGH ego and self-assuredness), but remind yourself that Disney is openly courting the mainly female, woke Tween market these days and it all makes sense. Girls are allowed silly power fantasies too and in that context Moana isn't too bad. The DVD was a little long to hold my 4-year olds attention but she laughed along with Maui and the funny animal characters, and the theme song has become a favourite to watch on Youtube, so thumbs-up from her, too.

Dvd Moana has a slipcover that came with the dvd. The colours on the slipcover are brighter than the photo on the net. Great movie I now have both Moana films. I liked the fact that it takes part in Oceania. Thanks for everything.

I chase a lot of language dubbing options in my DVDs. Yes, unbelievably, this unique language options as listed. Pretty cool! Plus, the songs--omg great songs in this movie, too.
