Still don't know what closed means. But it's good.
I have several brushes but somehow lost all the pans. I didn't want to buy a set so bought an individual pan even though more expensive. I was intrigued by closed so hoped I would find out. But still don't understand. However it is excellent. Something very satisfying about the design. No gaps between the floor and pan. So nothing left behind. And the handle is just right. I'm surprised to say it's worth spending a bit more for this. It does a good job.

Sturdy & just what I was hunting for.
Very sturdy enclosed dustpan of the old fashioned variety, just what I needed I use mine everywhere, & this type stops the stuff you've just collected from being blown everywhere you didn't want it.The base of the pan is level d has a sloped floor so you can sweep up liquids if needed and the change in the angle of the floor helps to stop the light dust or liquid from escaping. The handle is in the middle on the top allowing you to carry it & it's contents safely comfortably & whilst sweeping up to hold the pan in place & when required alter the entry angle of the pan. The brush that was not bought at the same place by me fits into the pan for carrying purposes & for storage. This only came in grey that's a shame but it's design is traditional yet plastic, waterproof light weight and the base has been made sturdy and given a level underside so that the matter being swept up doesn't glow underneath the pan rather than into it, some times I use a scaper to move stuff into the pan & the sharplt angled front edge allows thick liquids to be swept up without ending up with the mess under the pan rather than safely held in it. It's easy to empty the contents and washes out well with water or disinfectant if required, it dries out very quickly & in necessary can be cloth dried. A n essential bit of kit in fact I've got several that I keep in certain places sometimes for certain jobs only so I don't need to carry one downstairs & more importantly those used outside don't get used inside, so my home is cleaner d safe too.

A very effective, practical design - easy to recommend.
It is hard to imagine getting excited by a domestic cleaning product, but at least this item is a very good one! This strong and durable dustpan (pic1) is a sturdy one-piece moulding, comfortable to hold and highly effective, making it very easy to recommend. Unlike most modern "open-top" dust-pans, this product actually keeps the debris where you want it - in the pan! Why on earth all dustpans don't feature this "enclosed" top design is quite beyond me....For some reason, even Addis make an "open-top" dust-pan (pic2), which allows dust to fly everywhere. This, plus it's smaller capacity, means you are forever emptying it. An excellent idea on this otherwise utterely inferior model, was, or so I initially thought, the inclusion of a soft and flexible silicone "lip" along the front. Unfortunately this hardened up after a few months, and became fragile and all too easily chipped - this is just about visible in pic2. This made the front uneven, allowing debris to go under the dustpan, rendering it useless. Great idea, very poorly implemented. Avoid. In short, the model reviewed is so very much better than the model that I have compared it to here that it is hard to believe that they are actually both made by Addis.

A little thin that can warp and fine dust slips under
Plastic did become warped after a lot of use which made it harder to pick up fine dust. Would recommend a slightly thicker plastic version if available

A Proper Dustpan!
This style of dustpan isn't available locally, and I had thought I'd checked for one on Amazon too... It's a real boon, as I have a vacuum cleaner but these have gathered dust over the years as I've swept my floors; rugs; carpets. As I sweep, I tap the base of the dustpan on the floor and everything (including budgie feathers) remains in it rather than bouncing out over the 'spade' style (open) ones. The edge of the dustpan is also level, which one of my other pans isn't, hence dust can be captured as easily as possible. The 4\5 on durability is because I've only had the product a short time, but I expect it will last. Highly recommended.
