Revisit the Hannibal Lecter story as FBI profiler Will Graham teams up with brilliant but cannibalistic Dr. Lecter to catch the serial killer Tooth Fairy. Review: excellent read - Well paced and great characters. Can’t wait to tear into silence of the lambs and the rest of the books in the series. Review: A solid start to the series - I feel that because of various movie and TV series adaptations, the Hannibal Lectar series carries a certain type of legend that isn’t necessarily due to Thomas Harris’ literary work. However, this book was great! Not written in the “Whodunnit” style of trying to guess who the foe is, but rather introducing the both the chaser and the chased early on gave this book a different feel, as you could play both characters motivations off against each other. Add into the mix the character of Lectar, who in this instalment is used sparingly, and there was some great tension created. Even in the few short chapters that Lectar was the main focus, there was a definite sense of unease! This book is really well written, a decent page turner, and certainly leaves you wanting more. I will be diving into Silence of the Lambs immediately!

Very little involvement of Hannibal.
Well written and gripping novel, but Hannibal has v little part.

Wow
Great read and didn't know how close this would be to the film manhunter but the film did the book justice.

Good introductory thriller
Enjoyed it but the writing is a bit clunky in parts and jarring as a result. However the characters are very well fleshed out and the plot is fantastic. The way the investigation is intricately weaved and revealed is also excellent.

Great
Great book! Watched the film a few years ago so decided to give the book a read a few months back. Watching the film helped picturing Anthony Hopkins, Ralph Fiennes, and Edward Norton when reading the book, bringing back lots of memories of Hannibal Lecter, the Tooth Fairy, and of course Will!

Legendary
Perfect. Outrageous. Gripping. Sooo much better than the film. Harris paces this book superbly and guides you through the storm and stress of the FBI but also the tooth fairy, his bio blew me away as a mid-point and one of many times I shook my head in wonder at Mr Harris.

This is a really breathtaking book. The plot is really captivating, and the psychology of characters is stunningly impressive (not just Lecter). I appreciate particularly Harris' way of writing, that keeps the tension high but also concedes some flashbacks (and this is true of all the things he writes). Highly suggested if you like the genre.
