As an older customer, I bought this to help over Christmas with the arthritic hands. Brilliant piece of equipment, would highly recommend.

Easy to use
Well made, sturdy item. Slices nicely and easy to use. Easy to clean. Good size with variable speed. Great for slicing meat, which is all ive used it for so far. Can move/slide if on a smooth surface, so make sure its firmly situated. Overall though, it's a nice machine.

-) Just About OK
I gave this Food Slicer 3 star rating because it really is not the best. If I was buying one again I would opt for a better one. The machine is a bit on the noisy side but that's not a major problem as it is used to slice up the remainder of the joint of meat left after dinner/lunch. It is also very under-powered. While slicing some cold top-side of beef and NOT putting any pressure to force the slicer to cut it slows down drastically. When the Slicer is adjusted for the thinnest slice when you get to the end of the joint of meat it slips down between the carriage and the body of the slicer. The blade also required sharpening as it was not quite sharp enough to slice the meat cleanly. All-in-all, I will use this slicer until it stops and then dump it. For the price it is, it is probably reasonable value. But when buying another slicer when this one dies I will opt for a more powerful and robust one.

Sturdy food slicer. Does what it says on the tin!
Sturdy item. Really easy to use and clean. I've only sliced cooked chicken breast, crusty bread and a ham joint so far, so am rating it on that basis. The ham was possible to be cut very thin, something you would be hard to do just by using a knife. Once in the swing of things it powers through a large joint. The bread was better cut than I'd have imagined, especially as it was really at the maximum size possible to use with this machine. The chicken crumbled a little but it's a drier meat. All was cut using the wavy multifunction blade. Of the three supplied blades, it will be the go to one for me. It's very easy to change the blades. There is a lot of grease in the mechanism behind the blade. I'd really have liked to hand wash the blade but didn't want to remove the grease, so wiped with a food sanitiser spray and paper towel and then put it back on. Wish the instructions gave a bit more instruction on what you should do regarding greasing. Possibly washing it to remove the grease will have no detrimental effect on the long term use of the mechanism, guess I will find out as time goes on. Nice slice thickness range. Very few crevices for food debris to collect, but like all these things the cleaning by hand does take time but it's not dreadful a chore. All in all for the price and straightforward home use, it's fine for my needs.

Not worth the money.
Having had a similar model for over 8 years I assumed a more modern one might work better. WRONG! The simple mechanism that makes the blade revolve was just that. Simple! A small gear driving a much larger one. On startup the motor sounded unbelievabley bad. The gears(nylon?) although well greased, kept slipping. Result was, it couldn't cut through butter. Unfortunately we had already thrown our old one away, even though it was still working. Just bought a hand - cut model for £7. Works PERFECT.
