Good milk replacement

Bought for camping & hiking, I wanted something I could use in coffee, tea, porridge, etc. I went with this rather than "pure" dehydrated milk as that can be lumpy if you add hot water directly rather than mix a paste up and rehydrate first - in my type of camp cooking (lightweight, boiled water only) that's just not suitable or feasible. The taste is okay and it works well enough. I don't think I'm going to be using this instead of fresh milk at home unless I run out of fresh, but if you have a need or requirement for powdered milk, from hiking to emergencies, it does the job.

Expensive but at the minute you get whatever you can.As a pensioner with no car, living in the middle of nowhere I needed milk, my neighbours are a fair bit distant and also have the same problem, so bought this as I know its good, so creamy and nice, that hasn't changed, but £20 for 400g is a bit steep. Since then, I've found a cheaper alternative (1 kg for half the price!) Which is just as good,

I like this milk powder and only bought a small tin to find out if it is nice. I have used it to make ready brek without having to boil milk in a saucepan, two dessert spoon fulls in with the cereal and boiling water added makes great porridge. It makes up in a bottle and tastes just like sterilized milk, which i am quite partial to. I will be buying more, but next time it will be a large tin as i know now that it wont be wasted.

Arrived very promptly to my door and very well packed. It’s good value for money. It’s very handy to always have in my cupboard, I use it all the time, it taste amazing, very creamy, great texture. I use it when I’m making Yorkshire puddings, scramble eggs, just about anything & I always make a jug up to have in the fridge and to have at hand for hot drinks. It’s got a good date on it. Would highly recommend.

Nice product but just expensive for what it is

Easy to use

Do look at the "expiry" date. The tin which I just bought has an expiry date only 2 months from now. I'm sure it will be OK after that but I don't like being sold old stock!

Vorab: man zahlt hier über 12 Euro für 3 Liter Vollmilch. Und muss dabei das Wasser noch selbst beisteuern. Das muss einem bewusst sein und das muss man, aus welchem Grund auch immer, wollen. Ich tue es, weil ich zum Beispiel für Treckingtouren Müsli vorab mit dem Milchpulver mische und mitnehme. Viel leichter als Milch mitzuschleppen. Und weil ich sehr wenig Milch verbrauche und sogar 0,5-Liter-Packungen bei mit zur Hälfte sauer werden. Und weil es eine gute Sache für den "Notvorrat" ist, den man ja haben soll. MHD ist ca. 18 Monate in der Zukunft. Aber es ist originalverpackt m.E. viele Jahre haltbar. Und wenn ich die 3 Liter endlich aufgebraucht habe, habe ich nicht drei bis sechs Verbundverpackungen weggeworfen, sondern habe eine Metalldose mit Deckel, die nur ca. 60 Gramm wiegt und vielleicht auf Touren als Behälter für zwei Rationen Müsli mit Milchpulver taugt ;-) Oder für sonst etwas im Haushalt, Hobbykeller, Garten usw. Das wäre alles nicht relevant, wenn das Zeug nicht schmecken würde! Aber es schmeckt! Und wie! Wie gesagt, ich bin kein großer Milchliebhaber und habe mich in den Supermärkten auf ein etwas teureres Produkt eingeschossen, weil alles andere mir gar nicht schmeckt. Zum Test habe ich das Pulver mit warmem Wasser angemischt und zaghaft genippt. Dann habe ich zwei Sekunden gestaunt und dann die Tasse geext. Die beste Milch, seit ich vor über dreißig Jahren in Thierbach (Tirol) auf der Buttermilchalm ein Glas getrunken habe. Die Buttermilchalm gibt es nicht mehr, aber jetzt habe ich die Erinnerung in Pulverform im Küchenschrank. Jemand anderes schrieb, dass der Geschmack sie an "frisch gezapfte" Milch vom Bauernhof erinnert und sie diesen Geschmack hasst. Schade. Denn so schmeckt Milch ja eigentlich?! Aber so sind die Geschmäcker halt verschieden. Mir liegt die frisch gezapfte wohl eher als die aus dem Tetrapack. Wenn ihr diese Frage für euch schon entschieden habt und auch nicht auf "weißes Wasser" steht, habt ihr von mir eine klare Kaufempfehlung :-)
