An excellent phone for my elderly, hard-of-hearing mother
I recently bought this for my elderly, hard-of-hearing mother and overall I am extremely pleased with the purchase.1) First and foremost, she can hear on it! So the advertised extra loud settings worked.2) It comes with a set of paper instructions (a rarity these days, which may not bother those of us who are use to just googling them but does tend to bother those of the older generation who find it a little harder to change their ways).3) I didn't have to teach her how to use it, she could work it out herself (and that's saying something for mum because she's a total tech-phobic). The reason she could use it was because the layout is that standard 'old fashioned' pre touch screen phone set up where you have two options at the bottom of the screen and two corresponding buttons to select them. Elderly people who dread new tech like it when everything works the way it always has (and I like it when I don't have to explain everything several times over!)4) Not mentioned in the sales pitch, but a big added bonus for us, is the fact that there is large assistance alert button and a lanyard so that she can wear it hanging round her neck and essentially use it as a panic button. You can link up to 5 phone numbers to the panic alert so when it's pressed the top person on the list will be called and texted with a pre-set message. If they don't pick up within 60 secs it then moves on to the next number on the list and alerts them etc. My initial skeptical assumption was that I would now be constantly texted when something in her handbag nudged it, so we've only put my number in to test it ... 1 week later I haven't had any texts so it gets the thumbs up.5 ) It's well designed in that it feels nice to hold in the hand and has good quality, easy-to-press buttons. The only negative thing is that I was a bit disappointed that it doesn't have a torch. I'd have thought an "award winning" phone would have one.

Good phone for basics
Am very pleased with structure of this phone. Easy keypad, lbrilliant bright screen, plenty of tones for calls, texts and alarm etc. and camera ok for casual pictures though not experimented with it much yet.Am finding the texting a bit clunky compared to my old Samsung, need to do more key presses for simple things - such as a full stop - though perhaps I should stop using punctuation! However, about 4 presses to get an apostrophe which you DO need to type some words as it won't let you just add an s. Have to choose alternative words with sometimes more key strokes, whereas on my old phone it was a toggle system. But I am getting used to it and therefore quicker!Have been using it about a month.I'm sure it is a great phone if you mainly do just calls, sound is great, my husband is impressed and he wears hearing aids. Emergency call feature looks really useful, not old enough to need it yet I hope.Nice to hold, battery life on standby and calls is great, much better than my old phone even when it was new.

Simply a great phone.
I was a little worried when I bought this phone as it seemed like a step backwards from my Samsung Galaxy but I kept missing calls because by the time I had got the phone out the call had gone and I was struggling to get the numbers I wanted rubbing and tapping the screen. When I received the Doro 612 what a difference! I found it easy to set up all my contacts were transferred with the sim from the Samsung. I tried it out phoning my son in Devon and it worked perfectly, no rubbing my fingers about on a screen, just easy to see buttons, very good volume, and also you can delete those unwanted messages without deleting the ones you want. In fact it does just what it should as an easy to use mobile phone. If you want a simple to use phone then look no further. Fits easily into your pocket and the clam shell design makes it easy to hear the conversation, without struggling to find which way round the phone should be. Buy it!UPDATE 16 August 2017 Phone still working well, can safely say it is the best mobile phone I have owned. Good clear sound with great volume and easy to pop in your pocket, with out having to worry about damaging it. Holds charge very well.

Will go back to a smartphone
Not sure I should have opted for this phone having had a smart phone for 2 years or so. I found I was only using my smartphone for making calls and texts, preferring to use my tablet, therefore, when it started to give me problems I decided to go back to the old mobile which didn't need charging so often and easier to read in sunlight. The phone is great, easy to handle, clear ringtones etc and holds its charge. I cannot fault it but I didn't realise how dated the technology would feel until I started using it. So, I would say 'great' if you are used to this type of phone but think again if you are used to a smartphone.

Brilliant Phone!
What a brilliant little phone! Very easy to set up and use. Keys are large so a great help for my arthritic fingers. It sound range has to be heard to be believed. It is hearing aid compatible and I can hear every word! Whoopee! Good choice of ring tones and volume control - no more missed calls for me. The predictive text is slightly different to what I'm used to - but I'll get used to it, and the speed which it writes can be increased. (If I've read the instructions right). The instructions themselves are very good and easy to understand. The camera is very easy to use, I've practiced taking photos of my dogs, results are good. It has a radio and headphones, and has two games. The case itself is sturdy and being of the clam type means it can sit in my handbag and not make the odd call whilst I'm driving - due to buttons being in contact with items in my handbag. Only had it a few days and I love it. Best phone I've ever had.
