Great audio and decent range.
Great package for the price. Came with some charge, but soon charged up. Good mic and audio quality from the units themselves. Plenty of volume to be had. Outside distance just fine, limited only by regulations, but meets expectations. I had a signal about 500m from my house which is more than fine for my use. I got them for cycling with a friend. Nice and chunky with a wrist strap and removable clothing clip. The earpiece/mic accessoires are a mixed bag. The audio quality through the earpiece is really good. However, the mic quality is pretty poor, and the push to talk button is a bit flimsy. I was in contact with the company regarding the software download and they responded very quickly. In my reply I mentioned the earpiece issue and they said they appreciated me taking the time to let them know. There's a paper manual included which talks about programming them. Not really needed for casual use. Literally push to talk using one of the 16 PMR channels available. But for geeky folk, the software is downloadable from the Retevis website. You'll need a cable and the cable software if trying this out. The tweaks really aren't worth the hassle for the average user. Worth every penny. I'd have loved these as a child! Highly recommended.

Excellent Customer Service
I bought 2 RT24s for a fishing trip to France to replace a motorola walkie talkie I accidentally broke. I ordered them in plenty of time for my trip and tested them on receipt. All seemed ok. I needed a new unit to keep in touch with anglers in our party which was spread out on a very big lake. While in france 4 weeks later i discovered that one RT24 was faulty it only had 25 metres range. This wasnt a problem for me as i only needed one RT24 and one on charge to keep in touch with the other motorolas. So the really good experience for me was when I reported the fault, over a month later, the customer service I received was absolutely excellent, my emails were answered immediately and after a couple of suggestions on settings, for me to check, a replacement was immediately in the post. This one is perfect.Absolutely brilliant customer service. So about the RT24 it is very clear and has a good tone. It also looks and feels robust, very easy to use and you dont really need the instructions.Personally I prefer this unit much more than my previous one.Would I buy Retevis again .... absolutely. I will be buying 2 spare batteries for my trip next year so to have a spare at all times as the mains facility is a long way at the other side of the lake.So why 5 stars after receiving a faulty unit.... These things happen now and again and then the main thing that matters is the customer service which is second to none so hence the 5 stars. They sorted my problem quickly and efficiently without question.

Great value for money but with minor limitations
I received the radio ahead of schedule and in perfectly good condition, so no issues on that front.I was surprised with the price of the radio - at only £32.99, it’s almost a third the price of its Motorola counterparts, so I would say great value for money. It comes in a nice box with exactly what the description says. It works like a charm. After some thorough testing, here’s what I found: this is almost at par with a proper Motorola radio but at a fraction of the cost, so while on the whole this is a great item, you have to bear in mind that the quality of the radio transmitter will probably not be as good as a Motorola transmitter - what I mean by this is that the sound quality received from a long distance may not be as good as something on a Motorola radio, despite the fact that both have similar ranges. Luckily, this is mostly made up for by the fantastic volume of the speaker(s) of the radio, making this radio an ideal instrument in a loud environment. The simplicity of the product is wonderful - after just charging the batteries, you can simply adjust the volume and the channel (which you can know by the readouts when turning the channel knob). And aside from the push-to-talk button, there’s nothing else and is fully ready to go. Having the belt clip and wrist strap included makes using this more convenient, not to mention the included earpieces.Overall, this is a fantastic budget radio that I would highly recommend buying whether if it’s for serious work purposes, going out on adventures, or just to chat with your friends over a short distance.

For the price a very good buy....
I have goes these to replace other handsets that have broken over the years. The transmission range is good for the size of the antenna and stays very clear for about 1600m if not within a heavily built up area. The handsets also work with other PMR sets. They are string and feel professional and have a very nice finish. The talk button has a good feel to it when pressed. The notification on channel selection, via voice is also very helpful. I have been told you can change the unit frequency settings, by plugging it into the computer, but not had a look into that yet. Currently very impressed and helpful for onsite communications and for communications at small events. Unlicensed radios are ideal for saving costs, but as they are open, you must watch what you are saying. You don't know who might hear it! The other downside to being open to everyone is that people sometimes get these as toys for kids. This means you might at times get young voices on it, being silly. On a side note. As a quick and fun coms communication if on rubs and to avoid marine band radio communication rules, this type of radio can be very helpful. For example when filming and you need to communicate with another boat or shore party etc. If you are working in wet environments, you can easily protect these handsets and they are the same size as most marine handsets, so you can get waterproof protection covers quite cheaply and easily.

Easy to setup and they work.
To setup follow the instructions, batteries need charging before use.Two control knobs to align frequency and power.Tested over 1.5km, sound quality very good.Main use in and around garden instead of carrying a mobile phone. There's a carrying clip supplied which is easily attached and removed.
