Superb, quite stunning, book. A masterpiece
I have been thinking of buying a book about pranayama for some time . I bought two of them and I was very disappointed in Light on Pranayama by B.K.S. Iyengar. I find it very heavy going indeed and hard to read. i think in reality that it is very badly written, however eminent he may be as a teacher .By comparison i think that Prana and Pranayama by Swami Niranjanananda Saraswati is a masterpiece. I am so excited to have discovered this book. it is a model of clarity about a complex subject . I will be fascinated by it for many years. And i almost didn't buy it!

Ecellant
I have a few different books on pranayama but this is by far the best. It goes into more detail about prana and deeper also into the practicalities of pranayama and the effects. As always from the Bihar School, it is clearly written, well laid out with the first part being theory followed by the practical applications in the second half. Saying that, this is not a subject for the absolute beginner in yoga and as is clearly stated pranayama must be given huge respect and is not to be toyed with. It can give great benefits but abused it can cause great damage. I also think its very useful from a teaching point of view.

An excellent book, essential for yoga teachers and anyone who wants tondewpen their knowledge. Interesting history and background with reference to ancient texts. The only thing that would give it that final star would be more examples of pranayama practices. All the classical ones are there, but a few modern interpretations would be useful. It is also a fairly easy book to read and not too heavy going.

Recommended if you want to develop your pranyama practice.
I have been searching, buying loads of books on the subject.I had understood from a yoga work shop that breath work can be so effective in restoring health, different breath ratios depending on the condition.Obviously to be used wisely and with caution. At last I have found the book I was seeking. It will take some serious studying, but I am very happy.xxx

Great resource.
I simply love Bihar books. Every time I read them I start to realise that there's much more to yoga than asana. The book is well written, language is simple and precise.
