didn't want to wear out pricey wool socks running around the house. These are not compression, or "arch support" or tight like that. They stay up on my ordinaryaverage ankles, but I tend to push them down a bit to look less nerdy(at home, LOL!). I live where winter can be 20 F. all day, and snowy. Got 'size 9-13' for women's size 7 foot bec tight isn't wanted. They're warm enough and you can easily double them up, for working at your desk. Acrylic breathes better than poly, nylon is tough and can be spun 'soft', which makes them overal warmer while resilient. My dog swiped one and really played with it, no damage found -- he brought it back inside bec he's a great pup, ya'll.Also the poly in garments will "pill". These were the highest in acrylic & attractive that I could find in less-than-a-day, while not thin-looking in others' pics, and while not fugly (to me...). They aren't terribly thin, as mid-range-to-inexpensive socks can be -- I know how to knit wool socks as thick or thin or high or low as I want, but sometimes ya just want a sock that you can risk with floors and dogs and running outside to the curb with the garbage can. I keep the second pair off the floor, as bed-socks.But if I am hiking in real winter/snow condxns (or the heat fails) I would use my all-wool hand-knits that I fit to my boots. Not understanding the price difs /b/ dif versions of these (time? sourcing? the asin numbers differ), I bought them again, the same ones(at $19.89 asin B08F7TWR36), just to be sure of the thickness, even tho the pkging looks identical to the less-pricey ones(ranging12.99 to 20.99 why?): "Thermal Socks for Men, Winter Warm Socks Mens Womens for Cold Weather, Outdoor Sports". Glad I bought them, and buying again right now.

The price was quite low but I was hoping these were that rare quality bargain. Unfortunately they are just cheap socks. They claim to be size 9-14 but that's not true. I normally wear size 12 but these socks were thin, tight and they just barely got above the ankles. I returned them. It's hard to find good comfortable socks these days at a reasonable price...so the search goes on.

I hate the cold and spend most of my day barefoot at home. I like these because they are warm and unlike slipper socks, I can just slip into shoes and run an errand if needed and then kick off my shoes when I get back home. I have not noticed any sweating; they are soft but not very stretchy, I took off one star on comfort because if you aren't careful to align the toe seam you can feel it but it just takes a second to realign while putting them on.
