ALPINE guy buying JBL speakers??
Hope they fit!!! Theses speakers are AMAZING!! I haven’t even installed them, and I’m impressed!!! This is the SAME company that makes Infinity 6.5” Infinity speakers?? I bought both of them, and the Infinity 6.5’s are going back! These GTO’s are HEAVY speakers! Thick baffleles, the surrounds that make the bass. The tweeters are large, rotate, fantastic! I’m SO sorry I bought the 6.5” Infinity speakers as well. HAVE to return them ASAP, cheap Chinese junk!!! The GTO baffles are thick and rigid, the Infinity baffles feel paper thin! The magnets are really heavy! I LOVE Focal speakers as well, but their tweeters don’t pivot like these do. These are awesome speakers! Just holding them, you KNOW you bought a quality speaker! I cannot wait to have these installed!! I’m so very impressed without even installing them yet! The quality is so evident! I’m sending the Infinity Reference Chinese junk speakers back, and ordering two more of these GTO’s!! And THATS how impressed I am with these 6.5” speakers!! I LOVE ALPINE, have a brand new ALPINE high-end head unit just installed but I honestly believe these speakers are better for the price than the ALPINE 6.5” speakers I originally was going to buy. That says a lot! I LOVE that you can pivot the tweeters exactly where you want them to be. Combined with ALPINE’s speaker time alignment feature in the HU, this is going to be fantastic!! I was amazed at how heavy these speakers are! Heavier than ALPINE’s, almost TWICE as heavy as Infinity 6.5” speakers, so upset I bought them! But you cannot tell on the internet 😔. Now I have to return them and buy two more JBL GTO 629’s. Oh well, I have 50% of my speakers. Cannot wait to hear this symphony in my Honda CRV!!! Even with the cheap stock Honda speakers, this new ALPINE HU sounds fantastic! I cannot imagine what it will sound like with all 4 JBl GTO’s!! I truly wanted the ALPINE 6.5” speakers, but they don’t have, in my opinion, better quality than these JBL GTO 629 speakers have, and this is from someone who spent $1,500.00+ in 1987 ($3,000.00+ today’s $$!) on a total ALPINE system for my first new car I bought When I was 18 y.o., I was SO PROUD of that car! If that doesn’t tell you how big a fan of an ALPINE I am, then nothing will! I honestly believe these JBL GTO’s are a little superior to the comparable ALPINE 6.5” speakers, and I’ve heard them both. It was so close! But the JBL’s are more sensitive per watt, and the quality of construction is a wee bit better. That’s from an ALPINE lifelong fan! I would NEVER BUY any HU (head unit), amp, or sub, but from ALPINE, PERIOD. But these speakers are AMAZING! And even though they are not ALPINE, for the money, I believe they are the best. That’s hard for me to say, but the truth. And I WANT the best for my money. ALPINE will ALWAYS be my brand of choice, but I didn’t want to buy their separate speaker package, as I will sell this car in a few years. Just put in a Wallmart radio, replace the Honda speakers, and sell it, no problem. Put in high-end ALPINE separate speakers? (Sub/mids/tweeters?) Problem I don’t want. You cannot go wrong with these JBL GTO 6.5” speakers!!

Mounted on a 2007 FLHTC
I bought some adapter rings and mounted these on an '07 electra glide. I have a cheap sony head unit with the little alpine ktp-445 amp. I have had aftermarket systems on 3 different electra glides over the last 10 years, hog tunes, j&m 7.25" rokkers, fosgate amps, etc. and this set-up beats them all. I've only got about 700 miles on them so far so I don't know how they will hold up in the long run. I had a set of polk db651s that the tweeter came unglued on once I guess from the vibration, they replaced them under warranty and the replacement set was ok. Anyway, I am running a stock harley 2 into 2 header that I sealed the cross-over pipe on to convert to a 2-1 header with a rinehart 3.5" muffler with no baffles. The sound is by far the best I've ever had at highway speeds. Since I use a usb flash drive with mp3s from various sources, the input quality isn't the greatest with some songs but the amp allows for this pretty well and the speakers can take what that little amp throws out pretty darn good. I want to stress that when running an amp (and on a harley you NEED to run an amp) you need to take some time and set the gain correctly, it's really simple to do, and it has to be done. Also, when you run an amp on a harley save yourself some trouble, simplify things, and splice the amp into the radio speaker output lines. If you are putting an aftermarket radio on, by all means find the correct adapter harness you need for the radio, but the amp, with a little care, is easiest just spliced into the wires that run from the radio to the speakers. Like I said, for the first time in 10 years I have a system that I am completely satisfied with and they actually give off some base that can be felt. the 7.25" rokkers never impressed me and they were about the best speakers I ever ran before these. UPDATE 11/11/20 - 2 Years, 7,000 Miles and still going strong. These speakers are as good or better than any Harley-Specific speakers You can buy. JD

Not impressed.
Honestly I love JBL products. I have the boombox 710 in my home for when I have house parties and they sound amazing. So when I purchased these I was expecting similar quality for my car audio. I have to say they don’t suck but it depends on what you are looking for. These are excellent speakers if your looking for a speaker that does everything. It does it well. If you want speakers to replace your factory door speakers these are absolutely one of the better choices on the market. They hit hard and play voice and bass all in one speaker. That being said; if you are like me and looking for speakers to sound like a pro audio setup these are not the ones. If you want speakers just for voice because you have an amp and subwoofers in the back and external tweeters in the front I recommend the SkaR FSX65. These JBL GTO’s are all around speakers which handle bass and tweeters all in one. That for most people is all they need and want. Just know what your looking for. These make great replacements for your factory speakers and they play amazing at high and low volumes. No issues at all with these other than they weren’t what I was looking for.

JBL GTO 6.5”
07 Chevy Tahoe. Installed a week ago and I’m very happy with them. Only ordered 2 at the time to try them out because reviews on here are sketchy. Will be ordering 2 more today for the rear doors as well. As a lot of people know, Chevy, around 2007, had failing door speakers more common than not. I ordered these GTO series and I am pretty impressed with the overall sound. They would sound great with a factory head unit but even better if you have an aftermarket to adjust your EQ like I did. I enjoy very loud rock, heavy metal but also listen to dark trap and country if it has a good story. The GTO series deliver clear highs, even through the door panel cover, and even has a decent bass for being 6.5” speakers. Haven’t heard them crack or pop from over excursion yet but again, EQ is adjusted understanding they’re not meant to shake the truck apart lol Also, I uploaded examples and drew green lines where to cut since Chevy used a goofy plastic basket/mounting bracket for factory speaker.. the JBL fit nice with factory speaker cut out. Very easy. Pre-drilled 1/8 holes in plastic and used the Allen screws that came with the speakers. Use some 3M foam tape as a gasket to prevent rattling sound or air leaks. Rear speakers should be here tomorrow so may take pictures this time to give a better understanding of anyone is curious. 4 stars because I’m a realist. They’re not a 5 star speaker. They’re a budget speaker and sound fantastic for $85. If you want 5 star speakers then go pay $250+ for low grade components. After the rear door speakers I will be adding a subwoofer and lowering the bass on these JBL and expect them to sound even better as a mid/hi.

Hands down AMAZING!!
I purchased these after originally installing a set of infinity reference, 6.5” coaxial speakers in the back door of my 2018 F150. Everything in the truck is amplified and needless to say the back speakers didn’t last more than two weeks without starting to fry even though I was running the recommended RMS power. I have looked at the speakers from JBL off and on, and originally decided not to go with them, but after the infinities went out, I purchased these and all I can say is wow. If you throw an amplifier on these, get ready for them to scream and have damn good clarity as well! I purchased the 6 x 9 for my front doors and it sounds like a concert in my truck. Every time I get in there I smile because it sounds fantastic. If you’re looking at these and another brand and contemplating which one to go with unless you know for a fact, the other ones are perfect and will not have an issue. Go with these . I’m running a SKAR 4 channel amplifier on them and not babying them at all, and they take everything I’ve thrown at them so far. I’m big on sound clarity as opposed to subs hitting and it sounds like the car it falling apart. Or my other personal favorite which is the car with 20 tweeters in it and you’re bleeding from your ears and can’t understand a word of the music. These JBL speaker handle the mids and highs with ease. I backed the bass off of them through the crossover since I’ve got 4x Skar audio 8” subs taking care of the bass. I hope this review helps someone, especially if you’re on the edge between these and another brand.

Wow
I've always used cheap speakers, the best that under $25 can buy. I got tired of it so I treated myself to something more expensive. After a lot of back and forth between brands, many Reddit threads and Youtube comparisons later, I decided on these. Technically, they are still the best $15 can buy (I had free Amazon gift cards from Bing). The doors on my 2000 Jeep Cherokee XJ look like Swiss cheese from other installations and this was no different. I had to drill out a few holes, but installation was just as easy as any other speaker and I had them installed within 30 minutes. I kinda got scared because the plastic frame is about 1/4" thick, whereas others are flat. But, the door panels went back on without any issues and all is right with the world. They sound awesome. I listen to hard rock/heavy metal and after fiddling with the presets on my $90 Kenwood stereo. The sound is crisp and clean. I'm very happy and in the future I'm going to replace the stock rear speakers (I have them turned off because they just sound terrible) with the 5 1/4" GTO 529's.

Absolutely a must-buy for older vehicles :)
I got these for my 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer (the one without the Rockford Fosgate sound system). I knew I had to get the adapters so if could fit in the car door frame. Add a bit more to the budget to include any adapter harnesses if you don’t want to deal with soldering. I recently finished installing them and let me tell you it is night and day on the sound quality. These speakers are rated for 60W continuous power. I previously installed the Pioneer 4660w NEX stereo unit, which supports a maximum of 45W per channel. The specs are close enough that I’m not too concerned on that end. The important thing is that the speakers aren’t rated to a lower power than the max deliverable by the sound system or that the impedance is something wildly different. That aside I’m assuming my old speakers had broken paper cone drivers since I could hear rattling when delivering any decent volume. All that was gone as I played some cumbias on the new speakers. I can drive them up to twice the volume of my old speakers without hearing any sort of distortion. The install job I believe is besides the point for many speakers to be reviewed by so I’ll conclude with my personal assessment: JBL/Harman delivers incredible sound quality at a reasonable price. The build quality of the drivers is superb with the metal enclosure and great tweeter design. Anyone looking for speaker upgrades should feel comforted by Harman’s expertise in audio speaker design and quality.

Good quality and has bass.
Best car speakers I have ever bought, the quality of sound is amazing. And most importantly it has bass which is hard to get from door speakers. Highly recommend!!
