I have used Nikon SLRs since 1975 and get a new one every 7 or 8 years. They never go wrong and perform like new even after many years of hard use. I still have my old F601 from 1992 and its still in full like new working order. So dont worry about a warranty,you will never need it.

Which lens is best for photography of baby's and toddlers?

I'm no expert but, indoors try the kit lens (18-55) and as the weather improves you'll probably find you'll need a bit more reach as you get outside more so the 55 to 200 would be a good second lens but if you want to cover most bases perhaps go for the 18 to 140 (which I have and it's good), otherwise get all technical and buy several prime lenses! Perhaps not what you need at this time though, it's a fab camera whatever you do!

Is the memory card and battery included with this camera?

The battery is but unfortunately, you have to buy an SD card.

Does the D5300 have an intervalometer, built in, for time lapse? I've searched the manual and several places online, just can find a solid yes or no.
