LAMY safari DB03065 Medium Nib Fountain Pen - Charcoal Matt BlackFirst the positives, great pen, great price and so light as a feather !. Glides over the paper with ease. This is a duel ink pen, it uses Lamy cartridges but with a Lamy converter, you can use real ink straight from the bottle if you so wish to. I don't have large hands so even though this is longer than my usual fountain pen (even in-posted), it still feels very comfortable to hold. I don't miss the weight at all.To be honest there is nothing negative to say apart from those caused by my own fault. I housed the pen in the pen loop of my daily diary and have a habit of pulling from the top upwards and out. The result the pen stays in the loop but the cap came off in my hands. Note to self, remember to push pen up from the bottom of the loop upwards next time. Also must remember to make sure main body holding the cartridge is screwed on slightly tighter than I had done or the body falls off showing the cartridge.I kid you not, I love this pen so much, the ink flow and everything about it including it's funky design that I have already purchased the same pen in a different colour already ! Oh to end, one other moan I like the brown ink Lamy cartridges that I have seen on Amazon but when I have tried to ordera box they don't seem to want to sell this other than as an "add on" (whatever that is supposed to mean)I really love this neat pen and it has rekindled my love of writing with a fountain pen again; this and a guy on YT who goes by the name of abrebrown who shares his own passion for pens are both to blame !

I am very pleased with this fountain pen. The cartridge included is a satisfying dark blue that dries very quickly just a tad lighter. I have the medium nib which I prefer for both writing and sketching. It is very smooth when writing even if you reverse the pen to get thinner lines. Ergonomically it fits well into my giant hands with quite a pleasant finger grip design that is both modern and comfortable. The pen can be securely posted which for me adds a little more balance when writing. I have also purchased the Lamy cartridge convertor, which I will use for most of my sketching, but first I will use up the included cartridge to train my hand muscles to get the most from this pen.

Onto my 3rd Lamy Safari - got the first 30 years ago, changed it when the cap stopped staying put, dropped the next and despite a new nib it was never the same, and now this - a joy to use, and I love the matt finish.One gripe that reduces a star rating - the lids are not the most positive clicking things and fall off easily if you don't make a point of clicking it home. The reason I dropped my last one was because it just fell out of its lid when I thought it was properly home (onto a stone floor - ouch). Not enough of a gripe to stop me buying another, but my original one from 1993 had the same problem, my last one from about 5 years ago has it, and this one? Well it's maybe a bit more positive, but time will tell.If you write a lot, which I do, these are a real joy to use.
