If you don't have one of these, you must get one, but get a good one! We use this all the time to cook with! Makes a perfect steak and chicken is always juicy and cooked perfectly! Great product!

Great product
Does everything sous vide you would want. Very happy. The other night I accidentally dropped it on the deck stairs, it fell about 10 feet hitting every step down and still works!

AWESOME!
I really love this. My daughter has been trying to get me into Sous vide for years. I have done moose, elk, and venison with it and my friends who don’t like game meat, came back for seconds. This is a great device, and well worth the price.

No English Instructions
Got this Sous Vede for Christmas. Was excited to use but only French instructions included in box. While I was able to find instructions on the web, was disappointed that there was no English instructions too when purchased in the U.S.

Another way to cook...
Sous Vide means under vacuum and it is exactly what it says it is.You seal some food (protein, veggies, whatever) in a plastic bag under vacuum. You place the bag into a pot of water heated to a precise temp by this device and cook it for the prescribed amount of time. When cooked, you place the food on the grill, under the oven broiler or in a pan to give it a browned and tasty char.It takes time, uses up resources and requires some technology (like this device and a vacuum sealer) but people swear by it. it is the equivalent of 'low and slow' cooking in a smoker since the food has a chance to be broken down by the heat while all of the aromas and tastes are sealed inside the vacuum bag.This device is really a sophisticated immersion heater which can bring a pot of water to the correct temp and hold it for the required amount of time.It worked well for me. I was able to check the temp I set with a good kitchen thermometer and it is precise and repeatable. There is no app involved--which I like. Recipes are included but this is a popular way to cook and there are tons of recipes using this cooking method on line for almost any kind of food you like.

Easy to use
Just fill a pot with water, put sous vide stick in, set time and temp. Put steak in and it does the rest. You do have to brown it when sous vide time is up. Hot pan, grill, or torch.

Also inside, clear, concise instructions, and a recipe book and temperature guide in quality stock paper with high-res photos.Turned-on, the sous vide handle displays a digital touch screen with five functions spaced adequately apart to allow for ease-of-use when using cooking gloves.Sous vide commercial cooking.From my professional experience, sous vide (which means "under vacuum" in French) applied commercially is used to pre-cook menu items sealed under vacuum with precise cooking times and temperatures for consistency without losing texture, nutrients and condiments, with the aim of providing fast, quality service, particularly in fine dining restaurants.For example, a pre-cooked sous vide inch-thick New York steak can be taken out of a walk-in fridge, and seared and caramelized to perfection by the chef in minutes.The commercial process does require a sous vide vacuum sealer and sous vide purposed bags to avoid contamination and extend shelf life to a month or so.Sous vide for the ordinary household.A sealed Ziplock bag will do the trick provided the sealed end in held in place above water. There are many publications in this regard. Shelf life should not be more than a few days.In my first sous vide dish with this machine, I did use a Ziplock bag to seal in a salmon steak with condiments, followed the recipe book instructions, and had a dish cooked to "umami" perfection in an hour. We had since tried several more meat and protein dishes.This particular sous vide device is well-designed and constructed, compares favorably in price and performance with far more expensive brands, and brings the sous vide experience to the ordinary household.
