Sharp, and very heavy
I love this lens, I've wanted it for a long time after seeing the magical f1.8 (which needs to be multiplied by 1.6, obviously, to accommodate for Canon's crop sensor) at such a great focal length. It's VERY sharp. I have done the latest firmware update via the Sigma Canon USB dock, and the lens is just SO fast to focus, whilst being so sharp and still having nice DoF! Really would recommend this lens to anyone with a crop sensor camera, as I think it's beautiful. Though be warned, it's not a lightweight lens, and it will more than likely make your camera front heavy.

Zoom lens with F1.8, no other company makes similar
This is a 18-35mm zoom (x1.6 crop for cropped sensor; 28-56mm) lens with constant F1.8 which is pin sharp in images, no other company makes similar and the build quality is really nice. Does put some weight on to the camera and is not a short lens but better and cheaper that carrying a few equivalent prime lens around. Also mine was latest firmware in the lens.

Impressive
I have been thinking about buying this lens for ages. Probably like you, I have read the glowing reviews. I am using this with BlackMagic cameras (on which everyone seems to be using this lens...) and for 4K video on Canon 5D IV, where the crop factor doe not cause a problem. Blimey this is a nice optic. It is surprisingly heavy and well made - fine with me. IMHO, Smooth, very quiet auto-focus and zoom action are best in class . Sigma, as ever supply a hood and also a free UV lens protector filter, bless them - unlike Canon. I was so impressed that I have also purchased the Sigma 24-105mm to replace my Canon 24-105mm. Like Skoda, Sigma have been on a journey from producing some cheap, cheerful and occasionally iffy products to being top of their game. They are now my preferred professional option to Canon optics, not least because they have nicely weighted and accessible focus rings for those of us who like to focus by hand.

Fantastic lens for video and great all versatility for photos
Have used this lens with an 80D for the past couple of weeks and absolutely love it for video. Image quality is top notch but wide open it can be a bit difficult to focus when takes photos but when the shot is in focus it's sharper than anything I've ever used on the 80D. Love the focal range, wide enough for landscapes and at 35mm on a crop sensor you can still get decent enough portraits. It is a little on the heavy side so that's something to bear in mind. If you would like to see video samples search 'Rudy Visuals' on Youtube and look at our latest videos, most of these will have been shot on the Sigma 18-35.

Great value, get rid of all those prime lenses
Well where to begin, firstly this thing is a beast! Very solidly made with a great focus and zoom feel it really does feel like a high end lens. The shots you can take with this beauty are absolutely stunning, from razor crisp wide angles to artistic soft focus shots at 35mm it really is like everyone says...a whole bag of primes in one lens. The only reason I am not giving it 5 stars is the focus can be tricky to master. Many people have said the dock and an afternoon of calibration will improve this but really for the price they should not need that kind of work. However using it mostly in manual as an alternative to multiple prime lenses this thing is cheap as hell and well worth a purchase. Would definitely be saving up to buy more of the sigma art series.

Buttery smooth, sharp, fast, awesome.
I've had this for quite a while now, and for video work it is simply in class of its own. The zoom and focus rings are buttery smooth (much more so than any canon lens I've used), the F1.8 aperture lets in more light than most primes, its built solidly, and is incredibly sharp. Oh, and it comes with nice case and a solid lens hood (neither of which canon include outside their expensive L series). This lens deserves all the praise it almost universally gets in the press. My one caveat would be if you want to use this as a stills lens then the autofocus, although good, is not as reliable as canon lenses... so you just might get some shots that 'miss'. however, for my purposes this lens is amazing.

I love this lens... It's actually brand new and pristine...thankyou
I love this lens... It's actually brand new and pristine... The clarity of the lens is stunning. I mostly use it in manual focus with a Metabones speed booster on the GH5 and it's important that you get the correct speed booster however with the correct combination the auto focus does work.. not as good as a native lens but it's good.... buying what they call slightly used was great as this box was opened and closed then sent back... no problems just a change of mind which proved to be a bargain for me... thankyou...😁 Happy customer!!

Excellent lens! Image quality is fantastic
Excellent lens! Image quality is fantastic, on par or better than many good prime lenses I've tried, even more so for the price. Well built and easy to use, both dials are firm and have the right amount of travel and dampening to offer precision and stability. It's also very easy to operate with outdoors and/or at night, even with gloves. As for taking pictures of the night sky, it's also great: the zoom range gives flexibility for composition, the large aperture shortens exposure time (so no mandatory star trails :), and the image quality translates into pin sharp stars. Main downside for me is the size, but given the quality and unique flexibility this lens offers, I think it's very understandable.
