You need to use hot water to make it work (see photos)
What is missing from the instructions is that you need to pour hot water over the bottle (and the strip) to reveal the gas level. Once you know this, it works perfectly! 😉👍🏻

Technically it does indicate heat, but the item itself if useless
Positive: This does work if you pour hot water on it.Negatives: • its so small its no use for any gas bottle taller than 20cm•Its not magnetic, its permanent stick on. So if you stick it on, pour the hot water and the gas is below the line of the strip, its of no use at all.I tried fixing it with masking tape to find the level, but unless its firmly touching the tank when you pour water over, it just cools instantly and goes back to black.I do not recommend. The reviews say it all. Its not operator error, its just not a useable product.

Great idea
Works like it should, but a bit of a pain having to put hot water on every time.

Poor indication
When affixed this product imparts little or no information.I found it so useless that I accidentally returned it along with a gas cannister and never noticed.

Low cost solution
Easy low cost solution and works very well. Saved me buying a new cylinder for a BBQ!!

It's not the item in the pic and it don't work
This item is not what it says the picture is designed to mislead us, it is approx. quarter the size, so don't trust the picture, it doesn't work on anything I have tried it on so it's probably just a strip of sticky backed vinyl, I am colour blind so I got a second opinion and there wad no colour change on any item that it claims to check, then we find out we aren't allowed to return them for any reason......we'll see about that! (It's not a lot of money but it's a blatant rip off so don't be fooled)

Disappointing
Disappointing, having to use hot water ( and it does need to be very hot ) to get them to read right is inconvenient, they're a bit too short to be practical on anything but the smallest camping gas bottles and the self-adhesive on them isn't that great so they're not really very reusable. Overall I'd recommend against these, get one of the colour-changing magnetic ones instead

Pleased with it so far..
Have not taken this camping yet but have applied it to gas cylinder, which is in the van, and poured water over it and it appears to work. Stood it in washing up bowl as didn't want to disconnect it from cooker or get the floor of van wet. It showed a level of gas and shall test it when camping and using stove, that will be the real test, but so far pleased with the strip.
