Fantastic with a caveat...
This is imo the best Arabic grammar for modern students . The pace is pretty good and there is a vast array of vocabulary that any student can get their teeth in to.I would however place one small caveat - try finding the Hardcover versions as the softcover has poor Arabic print. The font is awful in the paperback. The Hardcover edition is beautifully printed and the Arabic script is easily read. This is a brilliant book but best used in addition to Al-Kitab al Asasi ,al-arabiyah lil nasheedn or bayna yadayk. With one of these language books the student will progress fast and far imo. I have self studied these books and am now progressing on to The traditional Arabic and Islamic studies Ijaza program in one of the many institutes in England.

It's perfect for a grammar geek such as myself
So far I'm loving this book. It's perfect for a grammar geek such as myself, and I can spend hours reading through everything. However you really need to get the separately sold key book to the main book, as without that you will not get much out of the exercises. With the key, the combination is perhaps the best I have found in any Arabic study book. I would give the combination 5 stars, had it not been for a) several grammar errors and typos I have found in both books (the books need a strong editor), b) a very poor choice of font in the key book. It wouldn't have hurt to use paragraphs more often as well, especially since contemporary Arabic outlets have begun to use them more and more anyway.I would have also preferred more collated tables and reference guides that would summarise the key learning points of the different chapters, especially because the chapters don't always advance logically in order (the chapters jump between plurals, genitives, etc. topics many times). For instance, I would happily pay extra to have a consolidated table with all possible conjugations of the word, say, rajulun or shajaratun, etc. My native language, Finnish, is equally complicated and full of cases, declinations and conjugations, and I find the tables of all the possible declinations of one chosen example noun, or all the conjugations of a few example verbs, very useful to have as a reference - lengthy as they are. Now I keep on flipping through past chapters in frustration, trying to check what 'this or that' case was for this particular instance.I would have given the book a sixth star, had it have come with an audio item, that would allow us to practice listening. But I know that would have been very ambitious a project. Perhaps the authors would like to prepare an MSA multimedia study course for independent learners who want to practice reading and listening news, such as al-Jazeera? (by the way, check out al-Jazeera's learning website, it's a very good additional source for that purpose). So all in all, an excellent book - perhaps the best there is!

Great book for arabic language learners!
This is one of the best Arabic grammar books in the English and better than many Arabic ones too. For serious students, not tourists. Lesssons build upon one another. The only criticism is that the answer book for end-of-chapter tests comes separately.

Very useful Book
This book was recommended to me by my teacher and I found it very useful especially the way it is structured. I would recommend it to anyone interested in learning Arabic and has good grasp of English language.
