Professional Crimps for Custom TFT Ribbon Cables
I used this Taiss Crimping Tool to make a custom ribbon cable for connecting my TFT Display to a perfboard, and it worked perfectly. This tool is excellent for 2.54mm JST XH and Dupont terminals. The ratcheting mechanism ensures a consistent, secure crimp every time, which is critical when you're working with the tiny 28-20AWG wires found in display ribbon cables. I didn't have any issues with wires pulling out or loose connections. Even for smaller PH2.0 or D-sub terminals, the crimper feels balanced and doesn't require excessive force. It made short work of the multiple headers I needed to crimp for my display interface. If you're doing any kind of DIY electronics prototyping or custom cabling for microcontrollers, this is a must-have tool. It provides a much more professional and reliable connection than using pliers or cheap non-ratcheting alternatives.

Makes Wiring Projects So Much Easier and Cleaner!
The Taiss Dupont Crimping Tool Kit is a huge time-saver for electronics and wiring projects. The ratcheting crimper gives perfect, consistent crimps every time, and it’s comfortable to use even for longer sessions. The included Dupont and JST connectors are neatly organized and fit great — no more loose or unreliable connections. It’s a complete kit that helps make DIY builds, Arduino setups, and repairs look professional. Highly recommend for anyone who works with small connectors!

Good overall starter kit for those needing to make 2.54mm crimps
Good overall kit for the 2.54mm terminals. Do keep in mind that you get more of the male/female housings than you do the male/female pins - short 160 pins to be exact. As others have mentioned the box does not have dividers as shown in the ad. I've also had some trouble with box not closing securely so be careful when moving around. I would have preferred far more of the single housings than multiples as you'll use them more often; but good selection for most users to have on hand. The crimping tool works as well as others I have used. Keep in mind that the anvil pieces can be swapped around by simply removing the screws on both. Do keep the larger openings towards the pivot points. This may help if right or left handed and makes it easier for you to use. I have found the release to be a little hard to operate if pin gets out of place during crimping and you want to start over. I've smacked the tab with a screwdriver to get it to release. Another slight problem with the crimper is the one plastic handle slides about 1/8" on the metal. I've learned to make sure it's fully in the one direction before starting to crimp as when it would slip I'd mess up and have to restart the crimp. Finally, there is no information about the "adjuster" on the side of the tool. I'd like to have seen more information provided with the tool to aid in using it. More of a trial and error as sold. Overall I'm happy with the purchase and it will get plenty of use.

Makes professional-grade JST crimps!
I just received this crimp tool in the mail, and I couldn't be more impressed. I've decided to install some COB LED strip lights to augment the existing light in my new 3-D printer, and wanted all of the interconnections to be "OEM grade", including the JST XH connector on a new harness that will plug into the lighting circuit socket on the printer's motherboard. I'd bought a handy JST XH connector kit, thinking that I could crimp the individual sockets on the wires with a set of micro-pliers and then solder them. However, it quickly became painfully apparent that the tiny size of these uninsulated sockets coupled with the small gauge wire would make this a near-impossible task with marginal results at best. I immediately selected and ordered this ratcheting crimp tool after seeing a few promising reviews, since it seemed that this was my only hope to fabricate some decent wiring harnesses for this project. WOW...these things work insanely great, with each crimp looking like it had been done by professionals on a production bench! I did destroy a few sockets practicing with some spare wire, as it took me a few attempts to determine the exact orientation and very precise position of the socket in the crimper's applicable jaw slot. However, once this is learned, the results are amazing. I'm also very impressed with the quality of the finish and the excellent fit of the component's that make up this crimper. The crimping dies are machined precisely, and they're perfectly fitted and fastened on the jaws. There's a rotary dial to adjust the depth of the crimp at which the ratchet will release, but with the 26 ga. stranded wire and the JST XH sockets I'm using, the factory setting worked nicely so no adjustment was needed. Anyone who's made up a wiring harness of most any type can quickly master this crimper, although I'd strongly suggest having good lighting available and wearing a set of magnifying loops (plus readers for folks my age!) while making up connections given the really small size of JST sockets and pins, as well as the very critical positioning required when crimping. Bottom line: Very impressed, and highly recommended!

Great for custom projects
Crimping anything correctly is time consuming and takes patience. If thinking of buying this to save money making your own single-wire Dupont connectors, just buy the premade ones instead. Where this kit shines is custom wiring with various length, conductor count, and M/F pin combos. I have used this set quite a bit recently prototyping a project. Mostly making multi-conductor flat cables to connect sensor boards. The Dupont connectors are useful with breadboards and PCB pin headers. The JST connectors I have used less but are useful to connect components already having these types of connectors. There are plenty of pins and connectors of different sizes to cover any need. The pins lock in to the headers ok, but not as tight as a premade cable. Doesn't come with wire, so I bought a separate length of ribbon cable. The included crimper works great, making tight perfect crimps. The ratcheting allows partial closure to hold the pin while inserting the wire before doing the final crimp. Alignment is important so I put one dot on the wire side of the smaller crimp opening and two dots on the larger, easing quick orientation.

Received the wrong size JST connectors
Was sent the right Dupont connectors but the JST connector kit I was sent was 2.0mm pitch instead of 2.54mm, so I had to buy 2.54mm JSTs separately. Crimping tool is definitely not the highest quality but does work and is a good value.

Well worth the money.
I needed to crimp, this crimps. Easy to use, works very well. Now I'm gonna look for something else to crimp.

Lousy instructions , Great Product.
Lousy instructions , Great Product. This works very well. What isn't clear is how to use it. It is actually a one step crimp unlike some other products. The V of the connector faces up in the tool when viewed from the side with the labeling. The back die is for the JST and the front is for the Dupont connectors. Made several custom plugs without issue.
