Overpriced. Not fully functional
The product itself is deserving of 3 stars, 4 if it worked properly but it looses 1 for lack of testing and 1 for it's ridiculous price.First things first, the magic wand is OK. It's not rubbish but neither is it great. The annoying thing is it could be a really neat bit of kit but is let down by a lack of testing on twelvesouth's part, a ridiculous price and miserly attitude to extra's.The biggest complaint you'll see on here is that it stops the click function on the the touchpad. Why? Attaching the Magic Wand to the keyboard and touchpad lifts the back up slightly increasing the angle at which the front meets the desk. Completely unnoticeable, except that the two devices are now supported on their front edge and NOT the little rubber feet on the bottom. Not a big deal for the keyboard, but completely eliminating the click ability on the touch pad. Twlevesouth would have noticed this if they'd attempted to use to product even once, more likely they did notice and didn't care. This can easily be solved by sticking a little rubber pad to each of the 4 feet like these:[...]but twelvesouth haven't bothered because they'd rather keep the 2p that would have cost them.Secondly, when you pick up the assembled keyboard and pad occasionally the separator bar can fall out, easily solved with sticky tape. But why not provide a single sticky pad with the product to solve the problem? Because it would cost an extra penny is, I believe, the answer. Finally the price. At most this is worth £10 and thats if they (easily) solve the problems mentioned above. an RRP of £30 is obscene, £17 is not much better. Once theres a cheap knock-off available it will force twelvesouth to lower there price to something approaching sensible. Until then it's supply and demand, they are the only company making a product like this that I've seen so they can charge what they like.

Tolerances
I have an imac which came with a magic keyboard and mouse and recently I had a birthday and was given a trackpad. The problem then is which to use- mouse or pad ? and I could see no logical reason not to use them both. So then I needed a twelve southmagicwand with the pad on my left side and the mouse on the right,However the assembly requuires using a plastic H section between the trackpad and the keyboard and I found that the thickness of the alluminiumof each component not only slightly different in thickness but also too thick to slide eassily into the H sectionIt is very important to get it right as every time it is necessary to change batteries you have to pull this thing apart. It should not be necaessary to have to make modifications to a piece of kit that costs this nuch just to get it to work and on Amazon it is alreadynearly half the RRP in my opinion Amazon price is +50% too high for an alluminium extrusion and two plastic bits one of which needs modificationI'm getting used to the set up but when typing a report as this keep the two far apart as they have a tendancy to interfere.

Good idea... but...
dont waste your money on one of these: Twelve South MagicWand...have been using the Twelve South MagicWand for some time now, but found it blocks the Bluetooth connection of my Trackpad and Keyboard, my Mac Mini is about 4 foot away from me... the MagicWand is made from some type of metal, I modified my MagicWand by drilling some holes in the back (make sure you don't have the Trackpad and Keyboard in when you do this - LOL) so some of the Trackpad and Keyboards bluetooth signal could escape from the wand, I appear to loose connection a lot less now... you also loose the Mouse click from the Trackpad by using this on a hard surface so you will have to turn on Tap Click on in the System Prefs... overall good idea, with some niggles...get one of these instead: Henge Docks Clique Magic TrackPad and Wireless Keyboard Dock...have ordered one of these: Henge Docks Clique Magic TrackPad and Wireless Keyboard Dock, looks like it maybe a better idea, will leave a review when it arrives from Amazon (£24.99)

Poor service & I have no idea what the product is like.
I ordered the Magic wand as there was no alternative option as to how I could attach my trackpad to my keyboard.I took on board the fact that it was grossly over priced. When I pay for something that I know is way too expensive I convince myself that I am paying for the service element rather than the actual product. For example afternoon tea at the Ritz.Back to the Magic wand, firstly they took forever to send it.Next,I had no idea that it had been sent.FFS how complicated is it to send a dispatch email?Next; I got completely the wrong item.It was something to do with calibrating digital lenses.Trying to return the incorrect product/ notify Amazon & others? Have you tried it?Ok fast forward another 24hrs - finally made contact, then they didn't read the simple 3 line email I sent & answer my question- how do I get a replacement? You have to re order & pay for another whilst waiting for a refund on the first incorrect item!!Ok ; new item ordered . 48hrs later it is STILL showing not dispatched. No emails, nothing, zilch,I am sure the magic wand will connect my trackpad to the keyboard but I am not in the least bit sure when this momentous occasion will take place.
