I have used LaCie in the past and always found them reliable and resilient. As someone who travels with my computer this product leaves me no worry it will be damaged. Transfer speeds are great, storage capacity is more than enough with 2TB and compatible with mac and pc. Excellent functionality.

Not as fragile as my other drives!!

Beautiful product. Similar to Apple design in terms of minimalist but intentional. Was able to use the usb c lead included to plug straight into my iPhone 15 Pro and add photos and video.

Recently bought as a second backup drive for use with my 2022 MacBook Air, currently running OS Monterey 12.6. Bought in the sale for £72.99.The orange silicone (or whatever it is) sleeve makes the drive easy to spot and protects from bumps. The metal chassis seems solid enough. Mine came with a black USB-C cable.I used Disk Utility to erase the drive and chose format Mac OS Extended (Journalled) because an encrypted option wasn't available for some reason.The drive was recognised in Time Machine and I chose to encrypt and protect with a password as I do with all external hard drives, just in case it should go astray.First backup took about an hour for 300GB without a hitch. From experience, subsequent backups should take much less.Now I have two external hard drives recognised in Time Machine and alternate backups so I'm covered in case one fails. I've always preferred to spend money on getting two drives to protect against data loss.So far, so good with this LaCie drive but will update re. durability.UPDATE Feb 2025 - still performing as expected faster than a previous Maxtor and no problems since buying in 2022. Now on MacOS Sequoia.

My review is based in the product items and the support service provided by Seagate (not Amazon, they are the ones that sorted my issue). The item works fine, but the first time I bought it, it came with two cables, one USB to USB-C, and another one USB-C both sides. I just can use the first one since my Mac is 2015.So this time, I bought the product but only came with an USB-C cable.I contacted the support to get or buy an official cable from LaCie/Seagate because I’ve when I tried using a generic one I experienced malfunction issues, but they told me that that is not possible. Such a dumb way to lose a client, I’ve just checked a SanDisk that comes with both cables. So I’m now returning this one and buying a SanDisk. Only because they can just not provide the right cable. Anyway, if that’s the service they provide just for a cable imagine if you need to recover some data or something more complex. By the way, I refuse to use a generic cable because if I have an issue with the data, this might be used as an excuse for the potential problem. So I’d rather not to take that risk
