Finally replaced 36-Year Old Sorel Snow Boots
The old Sorel snow boots in my closet were purchased 36 years ago and they've provided me with dry, warm, and comfortable 'winter' feet 100% of the time since Day One. Being in Colorado my whole life, I fully appreciate the importance of snow boots. The new Blizzard XTs I purchased a few weeks ago from Amazon at 15% lower cost than directly from Sorel, are even better in terms of the quality of the interior materials, overall insulation factors, and general comfort. The two pair of boots look nearly identical...pure Sorel! By the way, the older boots, which are Size 9s, are not damaged, but I wanted to have a pair of reliable snowboots in my Subaru and that's their new home. The new ones, which are size 10s, are in the front closet and have already been worn twice since their arrival. They are perfect. The new boots which are warmer than the old ones, run a little bit smaller, so I'm wearing regular socks...not winter / ski socks....with these new ones. That's how efficient these boots are for overall warmth.I'd definitely suggest purchasing 1 full size larger that your normal shoe / boot size (which I did at the suggestion of a salesperson at REI). If you have a store in your area that carries this Sorel boot, go try them on to make sure about sizing. For me, a size 9 would have cramped my toes....the 10 is great. A 10.5 would have been even better, but since I'm not wearing thick socks in these due to their warmth, it's a moot point.

Sorel quality as good as it was 40 years ago with my first pair.
Just as stated in my "headline", my first pair of Sorel's were purchased well before Sly made them famous in a "Rocky" movie. Wouldn't have thought of replacing them except the rubberized inside coating on the "gator" portion of the Boot has decided to give up the Ghost. Saw these on a Cyber-Monday sale and thought, "if the boots half as good as it's older Sibling, and at this price" might as well pull the trigger. Got two pairs, my replacements and a pair for a Son who travels I-80 in the Winter. We've both worn them and have come to the same conclusions. The weight is greatly reduce which causes less fatigue in your feet and legs after an 8 or 10 hour shift in the cold. The weight reduction I think has a lot to do with the new felt liner used in the insulation which also has the new "reflective foil coating". Anytime you see a Emergency Thermal Foil blanket you'll understand the concept. There are no open seams on the Boot to let moisture in. Good grip on the sole for stability and limited slipping. You won't go wrong if you need a tough, waterproof, supremely warm boot for working in cold, wet weather by choosing the Sorel Men's Blizzard XT Snow Boot, period.

Seem to be good boots.
Received these the other week. Won't get a chance to try them out for another month or so (as far as how they do in the cold). Ordered size 11 (shoe size 10 1/2). Fit is good. The top front of the felt liner (where the boot section meets the vertical section) is a little 'snug' (maybe to keep your foot from sliding out?). It till take awhile to get used to putting them on/taking them off to keep the felt liner from coming out when I remove the boots.

-72F and still warm!
I wear a size 10 shoe and had to return to get size 11 in these boots. I am quite pleased with the temperature rating they came with -40F... I wore them in -43F actual temp in Yellowstone National Park snowmobiling Dec 2016 with a -72F windchill and my feet never got cold and only one cotton sock!!! We were out in the crazy subzero temps from 8am till 6pm.... never once did my feet get cold.... I have shoveled snow and slush back home with a foot of water standing in it and never got wet inside. The only downside is the stretchy cinch around the top of the boot snapped off from the attachment on the back of the loop inside... So I plan to remove the cheap stretchy cord and sew in some paracord instead...

Toasty, Warm, Style.
These are VERY warm boots. These have quickly become my go to boot this winter. I live in NW Colorado. It is often deep snow with sub zero temps and my feet stay toasty warm with regular tube socks on. They look nice too, if I pull my pant leg over the tops when the snow is not deep they are acceptable to wear in the nicest of restaurants, in a ski town. I wear them outside for hours at a time while doing snow removal around my house. The red highlights I didn't think I would care for, but they have grown on me. I also get a lot of complements on the boots.

Winter boots? The best.
I've replaced a 20+ year old pair of Sorels with these and could not be happier. I really like the liners (warm and great fit), and the outer is of much higher quality- more rugged and better waterproofing than my old pair. The upper gator is ripstop (so that is awesome too). And, as someone who loves the outsdoors when it's well below freezing, I highly recommend these boots!

Never Again
I hate these boots! I've lived in Colorado for the past 17 years. During that time I've had 3 or 4 pairs of Sorel boots similar to these. I've been very satisfied with the others and when they've worn out, I've always gotten another pair of Sorels even though they are pricier than other alternatives. Never again. I use these boots for a convenient slip on, slip off when I need to go out to shovel snow or run a quick local errand. All of the other pairs worked very well for that purpose. These things are sized the same and would be fine except for the inserts. The boots are 11 Medium, but the inserts are sized for tiny, dainty little feet with a narrow heel and a dainty arch that widens out somewhat toward the toes. The design of the insert guarantees that unless you have tiny, dainty little feet you will pull the insert out 90% of the time when you try to take the boots off. Really maddening. I've ordered another brand for half the price and when they come these boots are going in the trash.
