I have been using the radio for a short time and without any issues. I love the quad bands and being able to connect on many different bands. The radio was easy to program using CHIRP Next and the manufactures software. The remote head allowed me to mount the radio body in the back of my vehicle and the included wire was more than enough to remote mount the head unit. The range of this radio is great and I can connect to repeaters in neighboring counties. Great radio with no issues on my end.

Ein sehr gutes Funkgerät. Da es auf vier Bändern funktioniert und nach der Freqenzerweiterung auch auf 11m sendet, sehr zu empfehlen. Mobil mit Quadantenne oder Stationär mit Duplexer. Leistung auf allen Bändern wie angegeben.

I just purchased this radio. I connected it to a Comet GP-98 VHF/UHF TriBand antenna, and a portable 12 volt motorcycle battery just to try it out. This rig is amazing. Good clear strong audio. I'm receiving contacts on UHF simplex over 30 miles from my home, and these contacts were receiving me just as well, it took me about an hour to figure out the menu settings. Also where and how to set the step for UHF, then I was able to set my local area repeaters. I have been getting excellent audio feedback reports on the lowest power setting at just 5 watts. This is a good solid radio. To help with programming, I have ordered the TYT programming cable so that I can program the radio with my laptop. One additional plus is that CHIRP free programming software can be downloaded to program the radio. So far I'm very pleased. I checked with my local HRO, and my tech representative explained that the antenna recommended for this Quad band radio does not perform well with 2 meters and 440 bands, and will perform better if you use a diplexer with 2 different antennas one for VHF/UHF dualband, and a seperate antenna for 10 and 6 meters. I'm planning to set the TYT unit up this way in my vehicle. High marks on this awesome radio. It is my understanding that this TYT 9800 is Chinese copy/knockoff of the Japanese Yaesu Ft-8900R Quad Band Amateur Ham Radio Transceiver 2M / 6M/ 10M / 70cm, and lists for $700.00. One thing to know is this TYT unit performs just as well as it's Japanese Cousin, and the TYT is only $248.00. For the price you cannot beat this radio. For those that are frugal, or for those that cannot afford the Japanese Cousin, this TYT is definitely a great option. For those of you who are Yaesu Japanese "DIEHARDS" go ahead - spend the extra $310.90 buy the Yaesu 8900, and be just as happy as the TYT 9800 customers.
