Best value beginners set.
The quality on these is good and they are well finished. The handles come separately and could be tricky to fit. I used a tiny amount of silicon spray and they fitted easily. Other methods include heating the handles up. I used a hair drier on one before using the silicon. The handles do help make the set as they improve the feel when using the picks. The turning tools are a bit limited but you do get a couple of different thicknesses approx 0.43mm and 0.75mm. For my entry level of picking all I will do is to add a couple of top of keyway tension tools. There is no comparison here between the quality of these tools and cheap chinese sets that Amazon is overrun with. This Southord set has picks that are 0.63mm thick where as most of the chinese sets that include everything but the kitchen sink are 0.8mm thick (I have 4 cheap sets I've measured). I contacted Southord before buying these to check the thickness of these picks, they got back very quickly and their sales people are very helpful. The seller also answered my Amazon question about the thickness. Now after an hours use these haven't miraculously improved my picking technique, but they are much nicer to use than the cheap picks I have. Time will tell ;-)

Other than that very good
Doesn't fit many locks well. If I were getting it again I would go for the slim version. Other than that very good quality

Good variety of instruments
Kit contains all of the popular picks The rubber handles are supplied seperate and have to be fitted by hand Quality this far seems ok and picks are showing only slight wear Decent value for money

Highly Recommended
Firstly let me say that the Southord PXS-14 is my second set of picks and I don't claim to possess years of experience. That said I can certainly appreciate quality and I personally feel that these picks are exactly that. My first set were a £10 beginners set which served a purpose of teaching me the very basics of lock picking, but I somehow knew that a better machined set would give me more 'feel' through the pick itself. These are a huge step up from that first beginners set, stainless steel, and a nice quality machining. I'm sure there are even better quality picks available, albeit at a higher price though of course, so obviously depends on your skill levels/experience whether you feel you would need to spend a lot more money. I would have no hesitation in recommending these particular lock picks to anyone and I personally love them. They arrive without the soft handles attached, so you can decide whether you prefer to use them with or without - a nice touch I thought. If you do decide to fit them (I did and I love them) just rub a small amount of soapy water on the pick handle before sliding them on, then hold the other end with a cloth and carefully push the handles on. I tried them first on the see through practice padlock I had from my cheap beginners set. With the beginners picks I could open this approx 1 in 3 attempts, with the Southord set I hardly failed to open it, there was that much difference. I love them and I find picking locks quite addictive, so to go right back to the title, highly recommended.

Fantastic beginners set
If like me you fancy a challenge and a chance to learn a funky new skill, well bromio maybe try a bit of lock picking... This set is perfect. I received it yesterday and so far I have successfully picked: Master lock no3 15+ times Master lock no5 only once it had a tough key profile. Master lock no140 4 times Yeah moral of the story... DONT BUY MASTER LOCKS! These won't pick ABUS locks tho (too thick) but those are supposed to be advanced anyway. FOR SECURITY BUY ABUS lol Anyway hope this helps

South Ord, nice picks; shame about case
Case only has a pocket on ine side so when picks have the handles they dont fit. Could have put povkets on both side. South Ord picks are way better than the cheap rubbish you cam see ao no problems with them... Just travelling with them is now a pain.

Southford PXS-14
I brought this lock pick set after being addicted to spy films where lock picks are akways used and wanted not only to take it up as a hobby, but also to have in the house, in case of emergency. The price is very reasonable for a set which is of a high quality like this one is and the free delivery was very fast, only took 3 days to arrive. The leather case is very nice looking and also very high quality and it has quite a wide but strong zip on it which I can see lasting for a long time. The tools came bare with a seperate bag that had the rubber grips in that you can put onto the tools if you'd like, which i did to make thrm easier to work with. overall it is a very nice set that comes with all the neccesaries for starting out in lockpicking and has tension tools to fit many different sized locks. Very pleased.
