Lovely toy, my 2 year old and 6 year old love role playing with it

My daughter was delighted to receive this but the interest waned quickly as there is little that can be done with this as a toy. The projection of stars is not bright enough the pig etc seem superfluous. They should really be able to attach them in some way to the boat. The doll is nice and has been played with more. Well made though, the quality can take a few knocks.

This Moana doll and canoe set is likely to thrill any young fan of the film. It comes with Moana herself (not a great likeness to the character but close enough for kids I suppose) plus models of her pet pig Pau and the wonderful chicken Hei Hei. There's also the canoe itself, which requires only minor assembly, complete with fabric sail, hidden wheels so it can 'sail' along the ground smoothly and a battery operated light in the prow which can be pointed up or down. Great to have so many items in one set, although as with so many Disney toys, it's rather expensive for what it is.

The doll was not overly made up and she is like Moana, non white. I was pleased to see her limbs were on the stocky side and this is refreshing to see in a girls toy. The boat was easy to set up, and is just over a foot and half long by 17 inch high with sail inserted in case you have a shelf this might live on in your childs room. The boat was mostly plastic like the doll but there were creatively done flower mouldings which were brightly painted. The boat sits on a series of wheels, as it is not a water toy and for land use, the pushing of it emulating the roll of the seas waves. The battery compartment needed a philips screwdriver and 3 AA batteries not included. The display of stars looked good once I worked out to change the angle of light from front of boat to upwards. They were visible even when boat on ground, but better when held which I was able to photograph. To turn the light on was easy by means of the switch but I am afraid both the instructions and pressing multiply or holding the button did not help me turn it off and I had to unscrew battery compartment as five minutes had gone by and I didnt want to waste the batteries. This seems an ommision that might make battery sellers happy but not parents who will have to buy more soon. I would advise not telling child about the starlight feature as the boat is lovely as is doll and little pets in themselves.
