Q: What makes the eolus better than the snowmass

Hello, The Eolus has a higher fill rating and is lighter, so in layman's terms, bags of the same temperature rating perform the same, but this one is lower weight. Think of it as the "performance" series of our sleeping bags. Best, Hyke and Byke Customer Team

Q: How small a package does pack into?

Not sure of package size , but it fits into the bottom of my Teton 4000 backpack with room to spare !!

Q: I understand sleeping pads are at least half the battle against cold, what kind of pad have y'all had success with while using this bag?

I have a 2 season thermarest which doesn't fully insulate but certainly helps. The sleeping bag itself compacts beneath you (as is reasonable) but fluffs up quickly as you rotate. In 25°F you may feel a bit of a chill from the ground but if you cinch up the top of the bag your body heat and the down will warm and counteract the cool ground temp. It's a wonderfully warm and comfortable bag. You don't need to layer up at all. A 4 season sleeping pad would eliminate any chill due to compression.

Q: Did anyone try the bag at 0 degrees F? How did it go?

5 degrees was the lowest it got on our trip. I was warm in long underwear top & bottom, socks and then a mid layer top. And I mean toasty.
