Speed booster.
My ASUS Z97-P motherboard has a M.2 slot that runs at PCIe 2.0x2, so my Samsung 951 (256Gb) SSD only ran at:Write: 740 Mb/secRead: 785 Mb/secAttaching the 951 to the Lycom DT-120 and installing it in the PCIe 3.0 x 4 slot resulted in speeds of:Write: 1243 Mb/secRead: 2209 Mb/secThat is as fast as this size of 951 will go.There was no problem with the DT-120 as far as the BIOS was concerned, and it booted into Windows 10 Beta 10162 straight away.

Great service as usual amazon
Just arrived from amazon, simple installation process after re fitting the longer pci bracket to the pcb (only slight issue for me was having to remove the gpu as the M.2 slot is behind the gpu :)) just used samsungs magician software to benchmark my 960 Evo and the results speak for themselves!Motherboard Asus Z97 pro gamer M.2 slot giving not even a third of the listed speeds for read and under half write...latest bios too.Pre lycom adaptor : Read 834 Write 815lycom adaptor fitted : Read 3138 Write 1747!!!!Believe the reviews if you have an older board this rocks! saved me having to buy a newer board!Great service as usual amazon.

Great item, does as intended.
Used with a Samsung 950 Pro 512GB on a Z97 boards PCIe socket.Boosted the benchmark speeds on the 950 pro over the boards 2x PCIe M.2 slot to allow the SSD to achieve the advertised speeds.Great price, easy to install and no fuss. Just be sure that it will fit your case as it can be a little long. Also update your boards firmware first to ensure the latest drivers. Mine worked as plug-n-play. Great job!

Absolutely perfect
I bought this unit to house a NVME m.2 drive in my 5,1 Mac Pro and it worked a charm. Over a year of heavy usage to date and it hasn't dropped a beat. I would absolutely recommend this for similar projects.

Great device to use your M.2. SSD efficiently.
I have a Samsung 950 Pro SSD m.2 and a Gigabyte X99-UD4 motherboard. The motherboard has a special M.2 slot for SSDs, but it is limited to 10Gbp/s. As a result, the 950 Pro was limited to about 800 MB/s sequential reading and writing speed. That's still way above common SSDs out there, but only 1/3 of what 950 Pro is capable of.I purchased LyCOM DT-120 to overcome the limit of my motherboard's M.2. slot. Installation was breeze. The SSD is immediately visible to the system, no drivers required. Now I enjoy 2500 MB/s reading and 1500 MB/s writing sequential speed.Be careful to install the device on a PCI x4 slot at least, or you will still be hindered. Consult with the manual of your motherboard.

Essential component for max performance from solid state drive
Great piece of kit - slots into your mobo and enables you to get phenomenal performance from your m.2 solid state drive. PCI Express Gen 3 x4 lanes, providing a higher bandwidth and lower latency to process a massive amount more data than SATA SSDs. Pair it up with the awesome Samsung MZ-V5P256BW 950 Pro Solid State Drive (256 GB V-NAND UBX Controller). Makes Sata based (Samsung 850 and 840) SSD's look slow and they made hard drives look sluggish !

Works as expected, half height comes with low profile bracket.
Used this for Samsung SSD SM971. Works as expected. I am limited to PCIe 2.0 so the maximum speed I get are 1.4 GB/s read and write. Which is still pretty good. Quite small half height adaptor, comes with second bracket, fits nicely into case. You cannot boot a X79 motherboard with this.

Does what it says on the box - and does it well!
This allowed me to boot my tower PC (with a relatively old motherboard that however has PCIe) from a Samsung’s SM951 M.2 form factor internal SSD and installation was painless. It has worked well for over two years now.
