Most useful product
I had read up on oven thermometers and after much hesitation settled for this one, and I have not regretted it. It is very convenient, as it can be either clipped to the front of a rack or rested on the rack itself: I tried both options, and it is very stable, which is good, as I feared it could fall off. It is mercifully graded in Celsius degrees, as Fahrenheit would not make sense to me. The dial is done so that you can very clearly see what the needle reads through the window of your oven, without having to open the door. It is very precise, it would appear, as it immediately detected what I suspected, which is that my oven is about 20 degrees hotter than it tells me it is on top, and 15 in the middle, so I am now going to be able to adjust my temperatures and bake and roast without angst of burning. It also seems to get up to the temperature rather quickly, as this was an issue for me. I had read that some of these oven thermometers take a while to indicate the temperature, and the instructions in this one tell you that it might need up to 10 minutes to do so, which I found a great problem, as sometimes, 10 minutes will make the difference between burning your cake or not. But I found out with relief that it actually reacts quickly and tells you the temperature in under 5 minutes. I guess the people who wrote the instructions wanted to cover themselves and were being conservative. Very good item, I have to say. I believe Sunartis is German, and it shows.

Accurate but possibly not suitable to be kept permanently in oven
I bought one of these exactly a year ago and it showed me that my oven was running about 15-20c cooler than the thermostat indicated. Since then, it's been a permanent fixture in the oven and worked reliably and well, with the net results my cakes, bakes, etc., were all massively improved. It's well constructed and has an easy to read dial. It can 'get in the way' a bit when putting stuff in to cook, and has a tendency to fall off/fall over if accidentally knocked. Most people will have the sense to take a little care, or to remove it first. I didn't, which is why I've just had to buy another one.

That's a lot too hot!
Just moved house and inherited a renegade oven that just wouldn't be beaten into submission! I have cooked professionally, so in theory shouldn't have disasters, but over Christmas I had so many burnt offerings that I knew something must be seriously wrong with the oven. I bought this oven thermometer, put it into a cold oven, turned the oven on set at 180°C and watched the dial climb. When the oven thermostat cut off, the oven thermometer registered 210°C, which is 30°C too much. I then cooked a roast chicken according to the pack instructions, but with the oven thermostat set at 150°C. Perfect! Succulent and juicy, not a hint of pink. I can really recommend this product. It is good quality and hangs on the oven shelf. Not so easy to stand it up. The dial can clearly be seen through a glass oven door. Using oven gloves (essential as it gets very hot) I move the thermometer to an out of the way part of the oven once I'm ready to cook and I have established that the oven is at the temperature I want it to be.

Not very stable
The thermometer has an easy to read large display. The temperature readings agree with what my ovens temperature is set at, which I am pleased with. It can be hung from a shelf, or you can have it on it's stand on the shelf, and therein is the problem, I am constantly having to pick it up (usually have to dig it out from the door hinge) as it is very unstable either way, the slightest movement and it falls over on it's stand and through the shelves, and the hook is not deep enough for it to stay put hanging from the shelf. Of course, I have to do this with oven gloves on, with it being hot, which makes it even more awkward to get hold of. At just over £14 I expected better. I wouldn't recommend this thermometer, as it really is annoying having to constantly pick it up, leaving the oven door open and all the heat coming out.

Well worth the money
Excellent. Great little device. Works well. I do a lot of baking and the correct temperature needs to be accurate. I didn't know how bad my oven temperature was till I bought one of these. It hangs nicely on the front of the shelf and doesn't get in the way. The large dial and numbers make it easy to read through the oven door unlike some of the others I've tried in the past.

Great thermometer
I had a thermometer from another company for ages which I really relied on. Having moved house I was convinced by my old thermometer that my new oven took ages to heat up and the temperature scale on the oven dial was inaccurate. After buying this it turns out that my old thermometer was useless (was made by a very well known household name) and that my oven is fine. This thermometer works well and is consistently accurate - a great product in my opinion.

Easy to read and I’d buy them again
It is very clear and easy to read. It reads in Celsius, so has these in big numbers. So many of the oven thermometers have Fahrenheit as the main scale with the Celsius small and hard to read - but not here, which is why I bought them and they deliver on this. It’s impossible to know how accurate they are, but I bought 2 and they are consistent with each other. They also show my oven runs hot, which is what my previous (but now broken) thermometer used to say

Quality item?
After purchasing a new stand mixer and re-discovering baking I found my cakes and tarts were not cooking properly, tending to burn on outside and not quite cooking in centre. Was recommended to test my oven and after checking reviews, decided to purchase the Handel thermometer. Found that my oven was 18-20 degrees out and can now bake to perfection with adjustments. This is a quality item (German-always better) and easy to use. I also like the fact that it can be viewed clearly through glass door and my eyesight is not the best. This has been an excellent purchase and I would highly recommend as an aid to cooks.
